MOT Time

Mot time is always a wait and see time, failure from not checking silly things like lights and horn results in many failures.
I never understood that. Even air in tyre is always checked long before that time. Good prior maintenance it should float through. Good luck anyways.

And make sure the bike is not covered in filth. If it looks presentable and well maintained it's a good start. I've seen bikes with rusty sagging chains and various components lashed together with gaffer tape, and then seen the testers reaction when presented to him. Lack of respect really, all MOT guys have endless horror stories.

Mate of mine (many) years ago would provide a test cert by request in the pub for the price of a few beers. But he wouldn't do it for all of our group, there were some proper nails which he wouldn't touch with a bargepole and rightly so.

just drop a£20 note on the floor as you hand over the keys .
works almost everytime.
or get one by post! ( that was in the good old days )
I seem to recall back in the 70’s people soaking their MOT certificates in brake fluid to remove the written content, then drying them and writing new dates. I didn’t have experience of that, but I did see first hand some ingenious attempts at altering tax discs.

Easy fix.......if that is all, check for weeping onto fork legs next year though. :D n dry yer eyes.

Brake fluid and then rinsed in petrol to get rid of the brake fluid, worked a treat - allegedly 😬

Why a fail on fork seals, they are just cosmetic, it has a fuck off big shock absorber doing all the work lol

Of course you're right. But it seems most MOT places are still flummoxed by the beemer's 'strange front end'.

I had a debacle with pattern fork seals that were weeping/misting after fitting. But I got an advisory, not a failure. I think within the week I'd bought OEM seals and they are still in there doing their thing.

I knew a guy who did a great job of creating a fake tax disc . In fact almost perfect until someone pointed out the expiry date would make it about 14 months 😂
