Motor dies - anyone had this ?

Well I've got 7k on my 04 GS and everything was peachy till yesterday when suddenly the Engine supttered to a stop. Pulled clutch and restarted, no error message comes up but it only runs for about 15 seconds then dies again. If I hurry I can get it up to about 40kph before it dies each time. Made it home 15km in this manner. Still no error on dash and 1/2 tank of fuel. Anyone had this problem. Will have to get it collected but I live 5 hours from nearest dealer !!

Had something similar in a car once and it turned out to be dirt blocking the fuel filter. I'd filled up at a petrol station earlier on and rather ominously the pump had stopped working before my tank had filled so I guess the storage tank had run dry.

1200 or 1150? If 1200 probably the fuel pump electrics. Do a search on this site (this was a relatively common problem on early bikes - there has been a recall).

its an R1200GS. Supposwedly the fuel pump was replaced even before I picked the bike up last fall

Whilst waiting for my R12OO to be serviced at SPC saturday morning, another owner gave me an insight into an issue where the ignition gets switched off through having to many keys on the key ring. It isnt that is it?

One key and key fob only. it feels like it suddenly runs out of gas ?

immobiliser?

Do you have an alarm/immobiliser fitted - only i had same thing happen to me on my old SV where the Datatool had malfunctioned and the immobilser hept kicking in and switching the engine off.
