Mozilla Firefox not responding

My old laptop is bit wheezy but mostly does the job when I can't grab the wife's Ipad. This message is cropping up a lot though and another one about "scripts" being unresponsive and whether to continue or cancel etc.

ANything (simple language please, I'm no computer geek) I can do to check / sort?

If you can get it started and do not choose any pages and let it stabilise

then click "help"

then "About Firefox"

It should start checking for updates and tell you if its updating or up to date
