Mudsling problem

New Mudsling just arrived.

I want to thank NN for replacing my mudsling with the new one . Living in Athens - Greece i did not expect that kind of service . I must admit that he is 100% pro . I report back when the new stuff gets on the beast .
Cheers

Update re mudsling: exchange updated model arrived from NN, fitted and appears to be ok, not yet tried in anger, but clearance to swinging arm seems greater than old model. Just a point, new pair of longer fixing bolts sent with new 'sling, when tightened push onto framework around rear seat release mechanism (original bolts used and seem to be ok). Good service from NN including return postage paid and freebie tin of ACF 50

Mudsling

Has anyone tried to fit a mudsling to a 1200GS that has got Ohlins suspension?
It would appear from photos that I have seen that the Mudsling fits to the frame in exactly the same place as the Ohlins Pre load adjuster.
I would be grateful for any advice please!

Yes if you use these washers are needed.

If you have a GSA you can swap the "original" ones with the ones that fasten the tank side pieces at the front. These are a little longer and work just fine. :thumb2

I have a Mudsling on my 07 GSA with an Ohlins rear shock. My pre-load adjuster is clamped to, and sits above, the lower part of the rear subframe tube on the LH side (in front of the rear footrest hanger) and the mudsling is strapped to the underside of the upper part of the tube (to the rear of the footrest hanger). No interference.

I only bought the Mudsling to keep crap off the Ohlins. Having just read this thread I'll now have to check for swinging arm damage when it's light in the morning. :blast It looked OK clearance-wise when I fitted it and I'm now wondering whether it oscillates at speed and that's when it rubs. :nenau

Although I don't have ESA and despite specifying a 'standard' unit when I ordered, NN supplied me with and ESA one with the dent in it. Not worried as it should be easier to flog when the time comes.

Couldn't wait - had to go and look :blast - unlocked, cover off, torch. No problem with my Mudsling touching anything. It has a good 1/4 - 3/8" clearance to the brake line cover (even if it did touch it is exactly where the thickening and fixing 'bracket' are) and more to the swinging arm below. I gave it a good waggle and can't see how it could oscillate at speed and touch anything, it is pretty rigid.

I wasn't supplied with long screws and fixed it using the originals - a bit of a struggle at first to get them to catch but once they had they pulled up OK.

Will keep and eye on it though.
