Option No3 is Dahoums rubber mat mudsling, think it cost him 50p back in the day so allowing for inflation still under a quid

Fitted my Mudsling tonight and IMO it is well designed and looks like it should significantly improve the problem of spray on the back of the legs etc 
I did also put some helicopter tape around the frame where the Mudsling attaches as on an earlier Hexhead I had a Mudsling wear away the frame paint!
This along with removing the rear crap catcher, fitting the Touratech number plate extender and the BMW frame infill panels should get me to where BMW should have designed the bike in the first place

So why don't they?
At the manufacturing stage, those 3 items would cost BMW less than a fiver to complete the bike as it should be

Can only agree - never had a BMW of any vintage which did not need some modding/additions which in theory BMW should have sorted out before selling them. Then again that is the same with just about any bike manufacturer

Do you still need the BMW frame in fills with the mudsling? Do they fit ok together?
I had hoped the mudsling and my number plate extender would be good enough!
My main reason for getting the Mudsling is to protect the back of the bike from stone chips, and damage. The design of the Mudsling is ideal for this.
I'll not lose any sleep about dirty trousers; they'll make it look like I've been offroad, just riding to Waitrose.

Because they spoil the aesthetics of the bike - so they leave it to the aftermarket guys to sort out.
Anyway if it rains one has waterproofs - what is wrong with waterproofs getting wet and muddy??????
Probably not but they do not affect the Mudsling so will leave them in place for now.
Ive just read a few post where a few have referred to "bmw frame infills" was this just a figure of speech or can I "actually" get the infills from bmw??

Looked at these BMW infill panels, OK but
The right hand side will not fit a std bike, you need access to the pre-load handle.
The left side needs the ESA sensor cover removing.
They are a good idea but not thought through, not pushed by BMW to the extent the sales reps did not know they existed and they do not appear as an accessory on the Mottorrad site. The covers are a reasonable price at £12.50 per side but the fitting kit (four tie wraps and a couple of rubber bungs) is £22,00
What a disjointed set of sales/designers BMW have become.
PS the genuine BMW head guards are now available but are not shown as an accessory or promoted by BMW????

The bmw head guards dont fit with the bmw engine bar so im told by the parts bloke I know.
