Muffs and Gauchos 2008/9

would someone with a 650 or 8 twin kindly get up to north wilts to see if val can get his/her muffs on your bars? just think of the kudos you'll receive from the entire uk 6/8 twin riding community!!

Seems there's no one in the area with the 658/800s

However, I have seen pics of the 1200gs (08) hand guards on Tim Cullis's 658gs (Thanks again Tim for posting the photos)

So If you have these fitted the Muffs will definitely fit. It is also very likely that they will fit with the standard 658/800 guards too (though this has yet to be proven).

Also just to confirm, The standard or short hand guard covers fitted to the 08 1200gs's can be left on when fitting the Muffs. The tall or high covers will however need to be removed from the guards before fitting the Muffs.

Gauchos

Just got round to fitting the gauchos to my GS and been out for a quick run. The product is very well made, excellent quality and looks like it will work well in the winter. My 2 piece leathers leak at the join in very heavy rain, resulting in embarassing damp trouser syndrome, and the Gauchos cover this area well. No flapping or vibration at well over 80, so should be fine on the motorway too. Thanks Val

Afraid not, my winter gloves are packing up after five years and it was these muffs rather that £70 for BMWs new Winter Pro2 gloves. I'm sure you do a lovely muff Neil.

Just to say that the muffs are fantastic. First week with them in close to zero temperatures and still wearing summer gloves. Even had to turn down the heated grips. How did I survive without these before?!

I'm told that the muffs won't actually fit over the 1100 handguards.
However there are a couple of solutions.
Firstly you could simply remove the handguards and fit the muffs (they are more or less self supporting but may flap about a bit) or you could buy the R323 muffs that have a bar end support.
You could also change the 1100 handguards for another type like the 1150 guards if they'll fit (these clamp directly to the bar end and the handlebars and have been fitted to other makes of bike) or something like the Accrebbis brush guards, TT guards and more.

Whatever you decide there is a pair of Tucano Muffs that will fit your 1100

I put mine back on again on Tuesday...justin time for 300 miler in the frost - and about 100 miles in snow/sleet/freezoing rain.

Just the jobbie.....took 10 minutes to fit them having done it once. The most time was to undoe the 4 screws that hold the summer deflectors on.

Brilliant....nice warm digits now, despite below 0 temperatures. You still won't get me wearing one of those skirts though!

Glad to hear i am not the only one who has such opinions about the "gaucho" things. ( where did that name come from ?? )

Although i have never used muffs i can understand why somebody would require them, especially when it is virtually impossible to get good warm and waterproof gloves in a big size.

As for the 'skirt' thingie, well i would rather freeze to death than resort to having one of those on my motorbike !!

At least now that i live here in Thailand have no need for either ..........

those skirts are fantastic. they keep you warm and dry and you dont have to wear half as much on your legs to stay warm your trousers dont have to be 100% waterproof. to get a pair of of bike trousers as good you would need to spend 3 times what the gauchos cost but obviously you need to get over the look (if you dont like the look of them) in bad weather you cant beat them ( you can if you have an RT or a car) just my 2P they get my vote
