My arse hurts

I think i`ve put this on here before but the airhawk is best for me a little expensive but the fact that i could ride my lambretta 500+ miles per day for
5 days says it all and a lambretta seat is ten times worse than any bike seat i`ve ever sat on but remember you have to delfate it so your fingers are slightly trapped under your butt others wise its like sitting on a ballon and in the twistees its like riding a horse without the saddle attached the bike goes one way and you the other.:)

Bought it tried it and whilst I agree it does improve things a little the additional height and non-permanace compromises makes it a non option for me. Also mine sprung a leak making it useless :blast

I used to suffer after 150 miles on ST1300 Pan, now have upgraded to 2010 GSA and seems better up to 200 miles, although my 12 year old son says the passenger seat is not good.

In hospital they use sheepskin for imobile bed rest patients, to avoid bed sores, so guess it must work. Downside would be in the wet, when it would stink more than a 70's afghan coat!!

numb bum

[ son and I last July rode 5004 miles in two weeks bought a £30.00 fireside sheepskin rug cut it in two fitted elastic to keep in place 400-500 mile per day to bottom of Rumania and back very comfortable try this firstFONT="Arial Black"][/FONT]

Seat

GS and GSA seat crap. Bought Sargent seat much better but.... I eventualy put the back of the seat on the low setting and the front on high. This places your bum in the seat and offers much better support. I rode 172 miles non stop yesterday with no problems at all (bar for my bladder but that's another story!)

sargent seat,

i always swear by the sargent seat's had one on my pan european = brilliant ,

k1300 gt = brilliant

bought one for my adventurer = hated it !!

but that's just me , they are great , just didn't work out for me on the gsa , pushed me too close to the tank, looking to buy a second hand seat and have memory foam fitted, tried gel on the k1300 gt , good untill your a--e got hot and it felt like you was sitting on a large box of rowntees rasberry jelly !!

No comforting way to say this......

The OEM seat is crap.

Get another one, or send it to Tony Archer to have him work his magic.

+1 if you can get a hold of him. Had a gel insert put in my low seat. £70.

well, its my own fault, i know. BUT just done a 2000 trip with the wife to Italy on the bike with the standard seat. AND IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE CRIPPLER. I must do something to improve it :rob

I have an 08 GSA and for the money these cost the seat is a joke, gel insert fitted but not much difference, took the advice of others here and put the front of the seat on high, rear on low and what a difference (thanks guys), mind you interesting when I first stopped and nearly fell off when my feet only just touched the ground!

I have a GS07, and found it very unconfortable from the very beginning.
Everytime I ride it for few hours it's not comfortable, then getting worse with the time.
Stopping gives some relief but do no change the problem and at the end this problem makes I do not enjoy the rest of the ride.

I tried buying some solutions like the one you can see here:

http://www.alaskaleatheronline.com/servlet/the-6/Medium-Buttpad-Deluxe/Detail

Cheap, simple, practical but it was not a big improvement.
It is a bit better but not enough.

Then finally I bought a second hand GSA seat (much cheaper than any of seats of other manufacturers), made some reinforce and adjust to my preference, on some areas with a local workshop and that's the best solution I could find.

I can still use it with the buttpad if I expect a long ride.

If this could be of any help I could send pictures.

;)

posture

Try moving the bars forward so a little of your wieght is on your arms, worked for me.
tried this after fitting high bar kit to my 1050 and found my lower back aching after 200 mls, seems the upright riding position puts more of your bulk on to the base of the spine, its worth a try and cheaper than a Airhawk whoopy cushion.

i have an 05 1200. Best bit of advice ever about dropping the seat rear. leaves an ugly gap between seat and tank but what a difference it makes to pressure points. Did 10 hours in the saddle last week and the first half normal was killing me, adjusted it at the stop point and it was a different ride. 350 miles and whilst I wouldnt call it an armchair, i could still walk when i got off
