my clutch is gone

His public profile says that it's an 1150.

HTH

I've been caught out like that before, never assume anything.

So much easier just to post what model, it saves every single person having to look, and if the profile hasn't been updated wasted everyones time.

Sounds like it's likely to be the slave cylinder thats failed.

how hard is it to replace this slave cylinder?

I replaced mine without dismantling too much of the bike.

Its a bit fiddly though and you will need long ball-ended Allan Keys.

Get a set of the small alloy sealing washers for the hoses, plus some spares, before you start.

Make a note of how the hoses lie before you undo them from the old cylinder.

You will be surprised at the cost of the cylinder :blast

If the air box would come out easily it would be a doddle.

Mine has worked fine for over a year now (12,000 miles).

Bob.

Just to be sure - when the clutch wasn't working and the fluid was too high, what did you do to try and fix the problem? You might have drained too much fluid and just have an air in the system.

Had the same problem on a trip to France earlier this year replaced the slave cylinder, but it was no better found out it was the Master cylinder seal's gone.
Another clue, has the clutch fluid gone black.

I got fluid on my clutch too. Once the cylinder was replaced it did slip but soon burnt the fluid off and it was OK.
