My indicator switch problem solved

I know some people find the indicator switch layout OK but after 4000 miles I was still hitting the horn to cancel the left one.

Problem now solved, a press of the switch brings them on and then another press of the switch turns them off.

Plus: They now self cancel after 8 seconds unless I've got my brakes on.

Plus: I can use them as running lights if I want.

Plus: If I hold onto the switch while indicating they flash very quick for a couple of seconds, good for motorway lane changing.

Cheers NippyNormans. :)

(Norman, Any chance of a pair of bar risers for the PR work ;) )

What..have you??

Have you tried the running light option?
How do they look?

I am a bit worried whether the bulbs will take being on constantly at reduced voltage/current.. and them blowing..

I use them on the lowest brightness for running lights.

The bulbs are the same as the one in the rear light and there's no issue with that being on all the while. The fact that they're running at a reduced voltage makes it even less an issue.

Any chance of a pic??

Any chance of a pic with the running lights on??

How easy is it to program the unit? I dont want the auto cancel,, so would probably set it to 20 secs or there abouts..

Its the running light option that got me intrigued..

Me old mate so once you plug in this nippy normans unit to the old flasher unit space

when you have the brakes applied the flasher stops on once you let the brake of the flasher then has 20 secs and goes of ok sorted

the wiring question is
i.e I know you must have used a brake wire to fit the connect onto
but were did you find this brake wire near/in the fuse box
or did you have to connect it onto the brake switch its self

Pics as rock said would be good

I've only connected it to the back brake "hot" wire which runs past the fuse box, but I've left length on the wire from the unit to run it to the rear light cluster in the future, so both brakes will suspend the auto-cancel function.

I'll pop outside with me camera now,

god your worse than the wife, want, want, want. ;)

No lights.

(you don't say!)

And the hazards on to show how the indicator lights look when flashing.

This took some getting, five atempts before the camera clicked and the lights flashed at the same time!

Oh and before anyone askes, the silver washers on the rear light lens are due to a little too much brute strength on my part when refitting it. Anyone got a spare kicking around? ;)

Cool

Cheers Whatton.. looks nice..

I wonder how the unit would effect a motorswitch, like Rod Farmers.... is there likly to be any problem with having the fogs switched on/off on from the indicator cancel button..?

A questions for those technical guys out there me thinks..?

Good timing with the camera btw.. :D

From what I can remember Rob replied to someone else with the same question, his Motoswitch will still work fine.

Since fitting the Signalminder I've stopped using the cancel switch altogether. Just another prod of the indicator switch turns them off, or I just wait for them to self cancel.

:)
