Hello everybody..
I have a 2010 GS, with 1500 kms under the clock... Since new, I´m hearing a high pitch noise, kind of a warning alarm, coming from the box controlling the exhaust valve.... this noise its been frecuently heard when the cambus does its checks routine every morning, before starting the engine, but once engine is started and running, this noise is gone...

please share some light, as this noise is driving me crazy, and I dont know if this have to do with just a valve check cambus routine, and is considered normal, or perhaps my new 2010 exhaust valve is malfunctioning, and therefore is warning me the exhaust valve is not working...

Just had first service, asked dealer....it's the valve and its normal.

So don't worry...be happy!!!!:ronno

Don't take the Cat off and have a look, don't just settle for "it's normal Sir, they all do that....just get it back to the dealer, tell them you're not happy with it, and you want it fixing.....End Of !

You've paid top money, for a supposedly top class bike....you want to be happy with it.

Cheers

Andy

Yeah... its amazing, my dealer keeps telling me this weird sound is normal....!! this is killing me....!!! I cant believe it..

Please, could anybody help me with an email of any of German BMW motorrad customer service, or technical advisor, so I could contact and take a look to my video, because my dealer consider this noise as normal... maybe people from Germany BMW motorrad could give me a hand to solve and contact my dealer in Colombia... I´m really tired with this mess.... maybe I had rather bought a ducati 1200 multistrada....arrggghhhhh..!!

Seems to me there will be another recall on its way... we´ll see...

Just watched yer link.

Mine makes that sound upon switching on the ignition, but only once, then silence.

As someone has previously suggested on here, yours is in a continuous loop so must be faulty.

Who is the Dealer so I know never to go there.

Good Luck Stretch.

...if your dealer says thats normal then tell him to turn the ignition on on any other 2010 bikes he has in the showroom....that should convince him it isnn't normal....you really shouldn't be even having to think about contacting Germany or anywhere else at this stage....its a brand new bike and somethings wrong with it...you just need to be firm with your dealer. I would find it hard to believe that the dealer could ignore this when they don't hear the sound coming from the other bikes.

Just wanted to add my 2010 R1200RT (I know it's not a GS ) just done the same thing this morning. Same noise with ignition switched on. It went after starting the engine and take a short ride; will see if it comes back. Sounds like a fault with the valve.

Did you get anywhere with yours?
