My new R1300GS Megamoto

Reggie, it’s a good idea to clean the paint off the bolt holes where the wheel studs tighten down.
The paint looks to be quite thick and will not give a solid base for the stud to tighten onto, possibly resulting in a loose wheel a few miles down the road.

The insurance company will more than likely invalidate your insurance if you haven't told them about such a significant mod to the bike....

As Arsey says, if you are involved in an accident where you injure someone else....it will get very nasty.

They may be OK with the mod...but you have to tell them...it is part of your obligations under the contract of insurance...

My friend owns the insurance company. I WhatsApp him late last night voicing all your concerns. He assures me that it is ok and he has put a note on my policy that my bike has a front wheel from an R1200RS fitted.

These pictures are from last year. The bike now has 7000 miles on it and the front wheel didn’t fall off. But thank you for your advice.

I can assure everyone there is no danger of this as i dont think he goes quickly enough to need the brakes.

Did you buy a new TPMS sensor? The R12RS front wheel has 8mm mounting bolt and R13GS lists 5mm

I bought R1200RS TPMS sensors from my dealer.

@Reggie353
Almost have all the parts I need, just need the rotor bolts since I’m converting from forged enduro wheels, sensor ring/bolts and 65mm caliper bolts and I should be ready to roll on the stock rear.
I have the rear wheel ordered, where did you purchase the 2mm adapter for the rear wheel, do you have a part number?
What did you do for your front fender?

I didn’t use an adapter. I just bolted the rear wheel straight on.

And the kit that I bought from Germany in 2019 came with brackets and an S1000RR mudguard.

Can someone share a complete parts list/ guide on how to do this conversion?
I would be eternally grateful!
I put most the parts together to do this but went another route. I had forged enduro wheels so 310mm rotors weren’t compatible with RS wheels. If you have cast or spoked wheels you can use those rotors so the brake parts aren’t needed.

Stuff I bought

Set of R1200/1250RS wheels
Front ABS sensor ring, bolts
320mm rotors, bolts
Caliper adapters and 5mm longer bolts
S1000RR front fender/bolts

Stuff I’d still need

LDL TPMS sensors for RS wheels
Adapter bracket for front fender.

Too bad you’re not in California I’d set you up.

I'm in North Carolina actually so maybe you still can lol???
I have the normal spoked wheels.
You didn't have to change anything to fit the rear wheel from an RS? It was centered with the same hub size?

@Reggie353 do you have an image or more info on the shim you used for the rear wheel?
Also, for the front, did you use all the wheel hardware (spacers, axles, etc) from the 1250 wheel or the 1300 wheel?

On my 4th GS and keep looking at 17” wheel conversions. Tbh the new 1300 handles so well, I dont want to risk changing the geometry. But, these look like a nice option:

I did ride someones 1150gsa with a conversion many years ago. That bike handled superb but also had Wilbers units. I just cant comment on later bikes.

Did the TMPS work on the 2020? If they did then it means they had Schrader RDC. They will need to be swapped to LDL sensor and new screws to get them working on the new bike. I have all the info you need, when you need it. part numbers (for standard alloys) and how to activate etc. The new sensors don't come with codes.
I could use some of this info if you have it

I only have info regarding sensors for standard GS/GSA option wheels, not wheel size conversion. For the actual numbers It will depend on what wheels you fit. there are different sensors for wire and alloys and pre 2022 vs post 2022.
