Help again needed

When I attempt to save some (11) routes the message comes back that the route waypoint is full. I have deleted all the waypoints and all the routes but the same message comes back. What is going on and how do I solve it?

I also get a message that the routes are not for the available maps. I have twice downloaded the maps and checked that the routes cover the available maps but I still get the same message.

Any help would be gratefully received

All the routes you create contain waypoints and vias. They count against the 500 max waypoints and 50 waypoints per route limits. You can count these by looking at the route properties, then directions. Unfortunately Garmin doesn't provide this information otherwise.

Hope this helps. I really don't understand the second paragraph.

Could be that the map set loaded onto your gps is Version6 and the mapset on the pc where the route may have been first genreated is version5 or some similar problem.

Grandad:

Shooter makes a good point. If you have upgraded the cartography you have on your PC and GPSR (by purchasing a new CD, for example, perhaps originally you had CN version 5, but now you have CN version 6), you will still have the original version 5 maps present on your PC. It is quite easy to accidentally have the wrong mapset selected when you are creating the route on your PC. By this I mean you might be creating the route with the version 5 mapset visible on your PC, then downloading it to a GPSR that has version 6 loaded on the data chip.

To confirm that you are using the correct map product on your PC, go to the "VIEW" menu on MapSource, click on it, and go down the menu until you see the command "Switch to Product". Be sure that the map product you are viewing when you create your routes is the same one you have loaded into your GPSR.

If you are not sure what map product is in your GPSR, hook it up to your computer, and upload the maps from the GPSR to the computer. This only takes half a second, because the computer doesn't actually suck up all the map detail, it just sucks up a list of what map segments are loaded. You will then see the map segments you have loaded in your GPSR appear with a yellow overlay (shading) on your computer screen. Once again, go to the VIEW menu, select "Switch to Product", and make sure the check mark is beside the most up to date map set. If it is not, then you have accidentally loaded an out of date map product to your data chip.

The other possible cause of your problem (the message "maps not available for routes") could be that you happen to be missing one particular segment of a map on the load you have on your data chip.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advice and help. Very much appreciated.

I have done some of the routes again in Version 6 and so far it seems to be working.

I will let you know when I have got them all redone and loaded up

Thanks again.
