Nav 5 + Autocom + BTM02a Volume control via Nav5?

Collected New GSA today with Nav5. Great day to collect and bimble back through the Cotswolds.

I have comms setup as follows

Nav 5 paired to BTM02a connected Autocom Super pro Avi.

All is well - nav instructions and music to Autocom.

I was hoping to be able to control output volume that I head via the Nav5 and the handlebar I-Wheel.

However when I try and change volume in say media player on the Nav5 it reports that the BTM02a is paired as a A2DP headset - please use the volume controls on the headset (this is obviously not that easy while on the move as the super pro avi is packed away.

I tried unpairing the BTM02a and re pairing in the hope that I could change how it is recognised by the Nav5 but have not managed to find any option to change how the BTM02a is presented to the Nav5.

Any tips? or is it a situation that once you pair to A2DP device you loose control of volume at the NAV5 and must control volume on the bluetooth/autocom device?

I have a similar prob , I pair the nav with autocom air headset . When I try to adjust the volume it tells me the same as you , adjust the volume on the A2DP headset ...in all honesty I have it on 90 % volume all the time , seems the most reasonable setting to me . So I don't have to faff around adjusting it

Yes, you need to control volume with the Bluetooth device, which isn't really all that practical with the Autocom setup.

Thanks for replies. Been surfing web and yes by the sounds of things unless you buy a BMW helmet/comms system then the volume control from the Nav5 is basically redundant.

Looks like I will be looking at wiring inline between the BTM-02a and the Super AVI my Amplirider with remote volume control to provide a "real time" volume control - bit of a pain as will mean running a cable from under rear seat up to NAV5 and sorting an alloy bracket for the Amplirider volume controller which is how I did it on my last bike albeit without the bluetooth module in the middle.

Am sure it will be a bit of a challenge but will be able to make it work. If only BMW didn't lock down the A2DP protocol to its own helmets/comms systems they could make their customer bases lives so much easier.

The BT02 is attached to your Autocom SPA which has volume controls - also, although you can't alter the volumes on the Nav 5, you can via the audio mixer - this changes the balance between music and phone/gps commands.

The Nav 5 manual,is very clear.

I agree - there are volume controls on the Autocom SPA - when locked under my seat - a bit difficult to alter while riding unless you are a member of the circus.

I also agree I can change the levels via the Nav 5 via a rather deep menu path.

So in summary - unless you have a BMW headset - you can change the volume while out and about as long as you are either a circus bike rider or have your pillion lean past you to climb through the Nav5 menus to change the default volume mix.

I have wired back in my Amplirider with volume control knob - was hoping not to need it with the advances in the BMW Nav5 over the Nav4/Zumo660 but looks like we have not moved that far forward.
