NAV 5 HELP

I am looking for some help/info?

I have someone arriving tomorrow who is about to complete the NC 500. He has a Nav 5 which is not picking up any satillite signal since he left home[Widnes]. There is not a lot on here that gives a clue as to why this has happened. Garmin website provides some help but not much, leaving a hard reset to try. This carrys some risk insofar that all journeys currently on his nav 5 could be deleted. I can give him access to my PC with Garmin express and basecamp. If anyone has any tips/ideas I would be grateful.

I find turning off & on again helps but make sure it’s actually off instead of sleep mode. Do it outside to give it a better chance.

Do a factory reset.

Switch off, leave it two minutes, take the battery out, leave it two minutes, put the battery back in ..... restart

Had similar , it had lost satellites advice from Garmin was do battery out restart and then had to leave it out in the open away from any signal obstructions until it picked up signals and re-orientated itself. Problem was caused by unit being switched off and left off for a while then moving 200 plus miles before being switched back on and the poor little darling was all confused

This. It’s exactly the same as when you take one overseas on a plane…

This is exactly what he has described left Widnes and did not turn the nav on until he had to use it to find his hotel. some 200* miles away

Gentlemen I thank you all, hopefully he will be able to complete his NC 500 ride, though he may get rather wet doing it!!
