NAV 6 New unit update

My 3rd replacement went back 2 weeks ago, a few days later I received a new CAP screen version.
The colour scheme on these (black band top & bottom) makes the screen look smaller than a Nav V to me.
Let's hope this lasts longer than 2 rides out!

I agree. I suspect it's an illusion though, just because the bands at the top and bottom are black.

Well....after a long wait and getting sent a new unit of the same 'older' model from both the dealer I originally bought it from and Garmin, I finally received the Cap screen replacement yesterday.
Had it working yesterday in the house, all seemed good. Screen is quick to respond to touch. Works with gloved finger.
Only difference to the 'about' screen is that the software version has gone up from 10.3 to 10.4
The box date range has changed to 14/2024 - 14 2-26, as pointed out by tspivey, week 14 would be the week from 25th March 2024
Garmin have stock of the cap screens come in and go straight out
The BMW part number on the box does relate to the Nav6 on a small number of european sites but appears no longer in stock and, to my suprise, a Samsung series 7 oven with self closing door. Google is weird.
Looking on a US BMW forum, they were on page 124 on this subject. Also started getting cap screen early January. I imagine this is going on all over.

I shall be giving it some stick over the coming weeks, starting today, as unusally, it appears not to be raining and dry.

On the upside, I now have 3 brand new Nav batteries as they didn't want the batteries back.
And the dealer network is updated, Chester Motarrad is now in there.

I tried mine out last weekend, just a quick test, set destination as Ilkley from Leeds.

What a perfomance. There's a road direct from Leeds to Ilkley (difficult to get onto from Sportsbikes if you don't know your way around the ridiculous road system in Leeds.) but the Nav VI took me all over the chuffin' place.
Half the time it was recalculating and most of the rest of the time after it had recalculated there was no magenta line on the route.

when I checked warranty status of my 2021 Nav6 after it started randomly ghosting it said only 2 years .... sent a snotogram as thought it was a bit much when it cost over £400 and is hardly used, pleasantly surprised to have got a reply saying to start the replacement process and it was covered under warranty still!

My current one is the updated Nav6 with glossy screen (was under the impression it was an improved version at the time) - assume the replacement is the same glossy screen one....

No, you are getting thecap touch screen.
Used mine as much as could after getting it and it has performed faultlessly, in heavy rain, warm sunny days
Only 2 months in but the screen is more responsive even with gloves on, more of a glass screen than the last 3 I had
Software should be bang up to date
I asked Garmin what the warranty was now I was dealing with them and they told me that its a lifetime warranty
They never asked where or when I bought the one I sent in. It was a BMW dealer replacement

ah brilliant - have to say was a bit downhearted after coveting my friends nav 5's over the years and finally being able to justify the cost, the warranty policy though may well have bought me back onside

Just a wee update on the performance of my CAP NAV6
I've been using it quite a bit. It's done over 4000 miles since I got it (as an exchange for my older faulty NAV6).
Been to several countries on tour, and so far been pretty good. We had some awful weather, lots of rain, temperature fluctuations etc, and it behaved as it should.
So far so good 👍

Sounds good then.

Separate question about the mount moved.

My original bought new NAV VI started 'ghosting' after 3 years good service. Tried all the recommendations on here and from Garmin but nothing resolved the problem for very long. In the end after long conversations with Garmin I paid £100.00 for a refreshed unit, which I was assured would not have the same problem. I recieved the replacement unit March 2022. All ok until last week when ghosting started.
Today I contacted Garmin with serial number etc. Within 5 minutes he said no problem we will replace with a new unit under warranty. Couldn't believe how easy and quick it was. As soon as I ended the call the returns label and instructions were already in my email. It all was a lot less hassle than my previous experience.
So as much as I am pissed off with the units failing I cannot fault their customer service. Hopefully the new unit is reliable...third time lucky I hope.

Same experience. They replaced my reconditioned Nav6 with a brand new CAP screen unit, no quibble. So far, so good with the new unit. I still trust my Nav5 more though!

As above......I replaced a dealer bought one and during the process to get the Cap screen I asked about warranty and was told it was now lifetime...not sure if it was their lifetime or mine

For those who’ve sent a defective unit back to Garmin, how long did it take for them to send you a replacement?

Took mine about 6 weeks as they had run out of stock
Once replenished, came next day delivery

oh well sat nav number 4 is kaput (got in April 24 and knackeredness started in Nov), out of the 3 year extended warranty so now being replaced for by Garmin .... lets see how number 5 fares

Took just under a week from start to finish. Just at the beginning of November.

Week to 10 days on the 3 times I sent mine back. Very good service. 👍

By return of post... Couldn't have been any faster. I just do not like the black and white menus though....
