Nav v lost map detail sfter update

Can anyone advise me ,
I loade the latest 3.40 version, now have only main roads for europe?
Tried uninstalling garmin express , using a fresh sd card,
And re installing maps, no change,

I has similar problem when the unit just bricked. I ended up having to deal with that well known oxymoron, Garmin customer service.

At a cost of around £110 they provided a replacement unit. There may be more information on the original thread.

Does it change when you zoom in?
Are your maps selected?
Settings > Map & Vehicle > my Maps. Your maybe just seeing the base map.
 
All seems to be restored by removing the latest update files ?.?
Its running the previous update done in December ok now,
I will leave it alone until another comes up later on,,

Thanks for the interest, I am using a mac, never had issues before, but reading the sd card issue mentioned by others did happen initially ,so could be mac related,
Then it just stalled loading, left for hours, and the map detail except main roads disappeared, so could be mac related,
Waiting until later then see how the next update goes, at least i know how to fix it if it fails again,

I have updated three Nav V's to 3.4 using a Mac, without a problem. There's another short thread where a bod reports no problems, too. I can't find anything on the web to indicate a problem. Three times lucky? Maybe, I guess.

If I really had to guess, I'd go for:

A. The detailed maps not being active (selected) on the device. Did you check that the maps were active (selected) after you made the update to 3.4?

B. The maps not being installed properly

C. The 3.4 update not being installed properly

Just posted another thread - seemingly with same issue - but don't know how to remove the latest update files.

I've tried to update my nav 5 tonight on 3 occasions. Every time at the end it says there was an error. Not good on a unit only 10 months old.
 
I updated my Nav V today using a PC. I chose to update computer and device, mine too came up with an error. On checking I found that the device had updated, but the computer hadn't, I tried updating the computer again but, again, got an error. I unloaded Garmin express, reinstalled it, and tried again, this time it updated the computer satisfactorily. I then went and updated the maps on my laptop using 'computer only' option, it worked fine.

Andddd breathe! Re ran the update (5th time) and it seems to have taken OK. Saying that, it quoted me 25 minutes to finish the update... and took over an hour!

I don't think it is the unit, try re installing Garmin Express

if re loading express doesnt work, which it didnt on mine, i couldnt choose them on the device,
Re running the update didnt work ,,
Go into the garmin and memory card icon and open , check the date of the files, copy the new ones to desktop , then delete them, the copied files are for back up only,
There was an update and text, all worked ok and the previous maps run, a 32 gb class 10 card is installed,
I have updated other garmins since so express is working on my mac, The dealer was no help, garmin was constant que,
Waiting a while for a new update, i am no expert,
