I've recently purchased an R1200RS it is fitted with the nav mount and the 'wonder wheel' I have a NavV which I have used on several different bikes over the last 10 years and it's always been reliable. My question is, when it shows the mileage on the Nav, is it showing the total mileage that the device has travelled or the total mileage the bike has travelled? I don't know if the nav recognises the BMW that it is connected to.

The bike as it connects to the ECU and I've just burnt my toast answering this.

My nav V does not connect to the bikes. As I use it on 3 different bikes that it does not communicate with it records the mileage that it covers as you are travelling. Mine had a glitch once going to the north cape. For a brief moment it thought it was somewhere in southern Spain then reset to it's correct position. It calculated the mileage all the way as part of the trip. Thousands of miles in one afternoon. 🤭

Strange,I bought mine secondhand and it synced with my RS as soon as I turned the ignition on.
Do you reset yours between swapping it over?

What I was refering to was that I have 3 different bikes I use it on that don't have the capability to connect to the nav V. All the bikes are too old and don't have the available tech. It just records the distance travelled. I turned it on once on IMG_20210722_165120.jpga plane and it recorded the speed and distance travelled whilst sitting in my seat.

The bike probably needs to have the ‘Navigation Prep’ or whatever it’s called, installed.

Some bikes don’t have it. Some bikes even predate GPS navigation devices entirely.

Oh right.
