Let me know how you get on with the 660, I've a Nav III (John A's old one) and really like it, had no problem with updates and now have NuMaps which is working fine, except that the latest mapping is too big for the NavIII - so I just excluded Scandinavia, no big loss. I also don't have a problem with the screen, exceptwhen I'm wearing a dark visor. I do like the configurability of the Nav III but the ability to play music from the unit would be good as it would save me taking my iPod.

I was happy with my BMW Nav 3+ until it went wonky... screen locking up, not responding, flitting from screen to screen etc. Sent it back to Garmin for repair at £116.34 ... has to be worth that
In the meantime showing a mate round a Nav IV at Rainbow, which he subsequently bought
A plan was hatched .. I sold my lad, 'Laughing Gas' on here, my 3+ when Garmin sent me a new unit back. OK, it said 'overhauled' on the wrapping, but make no mistake it was a new unit

No need for external antenna, receives satellites in the house
Instant 'off route' recalculating
Got the car kit ... great ideal hands free 'phone connection
Much more 'user friendly' I do believe

I got a good deal from my dealer
I could have bought the 660 elsewhere cheaper but there is much more to it than that.... loyalty can't be bought

Hi Micky, I'm just about to buy the BMW Nav IV + car kit, what comes with it in the way of a mount and what are the best mounting options on the F8GS
The BMW Navigator IV uses different interfaces from the Zumo 660. In some respects it is inferior - for example, the phone/audio output cannot be separately split between Bluetooth and cable as it can with the Zumo.

For the car kit you get the 'Bean Bag', a small pedestal that clips in to the bean bag and then the Nav IV mounting fastens on to the ball on the mount. Neat and stable. A connection then goes from the mounting bracket to the cig lighter socket.
For the F800GS I had a handlebar mounting from another bike that I adapted. Position ideal, clear view of the Nav IV when a tank bag fitted, and doesn't interfere with view of the speedo etc.
As per Greg's comments ... I don't find this a problem.
