Just wondered if somebody would measure something for me..?

I need to know how far back a vario box should be mounted on an lc rack. The box and mounting plate are for a twincam so the holes don`t line up with holes in the lc rack.

I am going to make an adaptor plate to fit between the rack and mounting plate and need to know how far back to fit it, leaving the correct space for a pillion.
So maybe a measurement from the rear of the pillion seat pad, in its furthest back position,to the front of the box would do it.
If anyone can help the coffees on me:thumb2.
Thanks

Steve, the front edge of the top box looks to be about 35mm back from the front edge of the LC mounting bracket.

I'm in north Lincs, so I might not be that far away if you need to come and have look, or can email you a photo.

Thanks batman,
Might just take you up on that.:thumb2
In a quandry at the mo because the two rear holes on the rack and mounting plate line up... but the front pair are about an inch apart diagonally, at 45degrees to each other.

Dont know whether to use the back two and make a simple piece to go across the front of the rack, easy peasy but doing it that way would move the box too far forward by 3 to 4 inches.
Work in progress...

Would be interested to see the mod! I too have an LC box knocking around in garage.

Steve, I have about 60mm from the front of the t/box to the rear seat, I can't be spot on cos I'm measuring the roll (radius) on the top edge which is not a precise thing to measure, so if you intend fitting a rear pillion you may struggle.

I'm happy to email you with a photo, I struggle to put photos on here.

That would be great, I was going to get a guy from Cymarc Engineering Ltd to machine an adapter plate up as he does a few plates for other bmw models. Ebay item number 122088633460.

Thanks

Steve

Pics

Job done.
I used two bits of 50mm x 6mm aluminium plate. With hindsight maybe a plate to do the whole lot would have been better but heavier.
Rock solid- my only niggle is that the the cross member could be a weak point:nenau might suffer fatigue... See what you think.

More pics

3 more.
Just need to re-code the lock.
Decided to position the box according to batman1's dimensions and referring to pics on the internet so the pillion space isnt affected.

They dont make it easy for men in sheds-- the angles on the mounting points are slightly different front to back so a flat piece doesnt fit properly, it needs tapered spacers, not easy with only basic tools. Easy for a factory to mould the mounting plate with the angles though.
