New 1200 LC TE

have you got your deal cast in stone,if so who with?i ordered my gs in black,a week later the dealer phoned me to tell me that black is not available only red and that blue colour.when I said I'd have to ponder the matter over the weekend and decide if I wished to proceed he offered me an alpine white bike at the same price which I'm happy with.I asked if I could order a triple black'pay the extra and was told no,not if I want the 2.9% and sat nav offer.if you've secured one please let me know as I'm still waiting on delivery of white bike

Hi , I'm absolutely mortified that your dealer misled you in that way ! Please walk away... Thats a really upsetting story.

I can state the 2.9% is available on triple black. I ordered mine today after weeks of pondering !

You can get free top box ( BMW vario), free 1 st service ( inc labour and consumables), free GPS and other goodies !

Please speak to Mike at Barnstormer Alton, Russel at Northampton or Nathan at Oxford. I'm not saying which I went to because its irrelevant, but all three of those are local to you and will give good straightforward advice.

I wish you all the best with your purchase. last observation is that a friend purchased a 2015 model a few weeks ago at £1000 discount. ( It didn't appeal to me because I wanted the cornering abs and new brake light thingy and was happy to pay the premium for the 2016 models)

Collected Monday 4pm, now 400 miles in and first impressions are 'utterly fuckin brilliant'. Sure nothing is perfect and there are some niggles but then everything is a compromise.

Niggles
I preferred the the old indicator setup which is all the more relevant given that the gps wheel controller gets in the way sometimes. I don't see why you should have to compromise on something so essential as indicator operation - moving your hands off the bars is not 100% ideal. And, yes, I do have long thumbs!

The GPS obscures the top of the rev counter. No reason why it can't be 10mm higher, there is space under the screen even when at its lowest. Only a hassle when running TBH.

The [free] top box is way too small to be really useful. I'll be buying a new Givi 54 litre one so I can carry my laptop or put our helmets away. Of course I knew this, but free is free and I'll have a pristine one to hand over to the next owner.

Gearshift pro - this is pure shite. It doesn't work well on the upshift from 1st to 2nd, almost any time when you're taking it easy and downshifts are inconsistent. Result is I'm riding it as normal (upshifts: clutch when taking it easy, slight dip in revs and no clutch the rest of the time, Downshifts: clutch at all times) so I've paid £375 for a bit of plastic/electronics that I didn't want nor needed. Still, I got a really good deal so I'm not too worried. If anyone wants to offer me good money for it however ....

Good stuff
It is super smooth, handles a dream if a little slow on the flip from left to right (damper?) so a touch more input required which is no biggies. Seat is 200 miles comfy, I've been getting 48 mpg and I've not been taking it too easy :augie and the ESA makes for a comfier ride.

Riding modes:
Rain is smooth and sensible
Road is getting it on
Dynamic is really attack mode and
Enduro - I've not tried it yet - too scared until it's run in

Brakes
Just fantastic. smooth, progressive and predictable. I was coming down the A82 Loch Lomondside road (south towards Tarbet) and I was lucky enough to get a long clear run until I came round a corner at speed to find stopped traffic. Hard and sharp on with the brakes on damp roads and no dramas, it just stopped. The best I've ever ridden TBH.

No buffeting from the screen, the GPS gives crazy amount of info; volts, 14 different kinds of fuel consumption (I was doing 380mpg at one point!), 12 trip meters, 5 temperatures and pressures, willy size and 3 of next week's lottery numbers.

No question whatsoever that this is the best bike I've ever had. The only extras I'll need are head protectors (more against garage scuffage than dropping), a bigger topbox, ACF50 and possibly mirror extenders.

One question: The manual says you can't wheelie it - is this true?

I've got the same issue with the GPS being too low. Whilst I'm not that tall I' have a long-ish back and prefer the 'high' seat. Short term, I've swivelled the GPS mount up. this give better rev counter view, but means that GPS is more angled forward and give more reflections of the sky.

I'm hoping I can remove the bracket and bend it a bit?

The vario box are a little reverse tardis. All the cleverness to expand means the walls are very thick.

My other problem is that I struggle to read all the dash info as I get reflections. Maybe its my polite Hi-viz vest ;)

For givi luggage plates etc try accessorimotostore.com , very cheap with current exchange rates I've had an adventure screen and luggage rack both givi both took about a week to ten days to arrive.

After 18 months can't fault the bike, smooth and effortless to ride, agree the indicator switch was a backward step tho.

rdrover , thanks for the write up. I'm reassured that its capable for 48 mpg because good economy is one of the things I was anxious about after moving from the F800GS. I'm curious about your experience with the gear assist though, others strongly recommended it (jimbo made some comments on page1 ) ! I guess I'll have to wait till the end of September to find out.

Off to search eBay for Head Protectors and a front mudguard extender...shame they don't come equipped with these!

For anyone else involved in purchases, or deliberating....Just be aware the 2.9% offer ends 31st October.

My understanding is that the free nav unit is till the end of 2015 but doesn't apply to the GSA, only the R1200GS.
Also perhaps consider swapping out the (free) top box and rack for vario panniers. It only cost me a very small sum to do this. Dealers want to help, well apparently apart from Brummyboy's dealer .....

(Finally Brummy Guy ... I hope you got some resolution to the issues you mentioned above...best wishes)

I bought an MY15 model (the same bar the new ABS pro) in Alpine white TE. My deal was £0 deposit, 2.9% apr, free gps, free vario panniers and topbox. If I'd ordered an MY16 bike, triple black being my preference I would have only got the £0/2.9% + gps (from BMW) deal. Very happy with the Alpine white.

I see NN does the givi ally rack conversion for £120 but not sure how it fits.

I did but couldn't find it on their site. I'll look again.

My old givi top box is looking a bit sorry for itself so i might spring for a new givi outback ally box. Did a wee deal at work so pennies not a prisoner right now

stuart,I can't thank you enough.i,ve called one of your contacts who offered me your offer on a triple black.what disappoints is the fact that I wanted a factory lowered bike in order to retain the standard seat but lower the bike a little bit."my" dealer has told me that the factory lowering kit retains the standard seat, other dealer tells me that if I order the lowering option I have to have low "less padded" seat also.i don't know whos telling the truth now.i'm just waiting for recommended dealer to call back with a price on my p/x.i have a deposit of 200 quid on the white bike,i think I have a case for a refund given that I was specific in asking if a tripleblack was available on 2.9% offer with gps and told no,and that the seat would be stock and may turn out to be the plank like lowered seat pad.
I really value any sensible input!

I'm absolutely chuffed !

I was peeking at the macbook screen , and wondered what the outcome would be !

I guess I was keen to help, because I nearly purchased a triple black without the free top box , till "Toddmeister" of this forum posted a photo file from twitter.

Toddmeister's post; showed a "free top box and rack !"

I subsequently mentioned it to the dealer and he "sheepishly" said "yes I can do that "!
I then, a day later, added about £190 and swapped that for bmw vario panniers . i reckon he saved me £400. ( always easier to sell a bmw with these imho
(I would like to buy him a meal !)

I can't say much about the seat. the only fact I know is that it is the "BMW Exclusive seat " which used to retail at 800Euro an has very good reviews all over the internet. So, as you say , well worth "retaining".

I can see on the configurator ( Motorrad website ) it shows the low option and does not mention losing the "embossed " exclusive seat " so my gut feeling is you will still have it !

With reference to your earlier proposed purchase.....You were mis-led and if you need any help retrieving your £200, just pm me and I'll happily do it on your behalf ! If everything is as you said above its a guaranteed 100% return , please don't stress about it !

Just my own thoughts ... but I really have no loyalty to any dealer. I'm very impatient with those who don't perform !

I have had really fantastic, honest and helpful experiences with Oxford, Northampton , Manchester (Williams) and Bahnstormer Alton. All will deliver a bike for a nominal fee. All can pop finance paperwork in the post. Don't be a slave to "the most local". There are some really nice guys working at BMW Motorrad across the country. They all ride bikes and love motorcycling. 98% will "bend over backwards" to guide and advise. I think as customers, we are bloody lucky!

Think how hard you work to earn your ££ and feel free to buy from 400 miles away if you can get a better deal !

I seem to get stressed about these things but can deal with massive stuff with ease!must be a biker thing.for me I have one crack at getting my dream bike so it has to be right.hopefully the p/x thing works out and we can get it signed off this week.i have had to pay extra for the vario box unall! once again a massive thanks as I would have naïvely continued down the wrong route.i'll continue to bore you with the details of how things turn out!

PS ...last thought... if the deposit is so small...always sell existing bike privately! (autotrader/mcn/ebay) take decent photos and be "up front" with buyers .
Just take care if your new bike has already arrived and your existing bike is not insured. These things are easily stolen .

That's brilliant, and they do the outback trekker box cheap as well. In fact the box and rack together are cheaper than just the box here!

Cheers

£370 delivered including vat (which I can reclaim :thumb) for a rack and a black outback trekker 58 litre box which is narrower and lower than my old plastic Givi Maxi 54 litre box but square so has more space inside.

Thanks again for the links :thumb2:thumb2

thanks to you blokes on this here site,in particular, stuart w, I've secured a triple black gste with nav and 2.9% apr finance.not without jumping through some hoops though.I had to be stupidly assertive with the dealer and make clear to them that I had been mis sold the original bike,if they didn't have 200 quid deposit iwould have gone elsewhere.i don't expect to be treated like a lord but when your spending fifteen and a half grand on a bike.....

Thanks for the comments !

Im happy you are moving your deal forwards !
I won't pry ... But I'm glad you are getting the bike you wanted .. Post pics and feedback when you ride !

Hi guys - I've just signed up as i've ordered a GS TE Triple Black for october.
Did I get a decent deal do you think? I managed to secure a £1150 discount off list price in exchange for the satnav (i'll get one later off ebay) and the top box as I don't think i'll need it. That plus a very good trade in price for my current bike, which wasn't much less than what i paid for it.

Roll on October :)
