Either our Active Plus or Super Pro would be more suited for defo for the GPS later on down the line. For the main differences between the systems will be the Super Pro will offer you auto volume for your music as the Active runs fixed volume. HTH

Thanks for the info guys, Rich i had after consulting your website thought i would opt for the Active plus 200 Duo, but as you point out the auto volume sounds like it would save on lots of hassle.

But by volume control i take it you mean as speed increases and decreases it adjusts?

If that is the case i think that swings it for the Super pro avi kit 300 and sort out a 2nd headset at a later date when needed. All i would need is a GPS cable as and when needed as it comes with music leads suitable for ipod?

A trip to bikestop later on beckons i think

CBFer, if you look inside the helmet where the thin cheek pads finishes you will see the neck collar running towards the back of the helmet ending up almost to a triangle point. If you look the neck collar can be lifted up and you will be able wedge the spoon in underneath it to drop the loom between the shells. Or you could run the loom a little bit further back where the neck collar finishes but this would make the loom sit a bit further back taking a bit out of the length on the extension lead.

Sorry for being a bit dim about this, but when you say the neck collar can be lifted up and you will be able to wedge the spoon in underneath it, do you mean at the point marked with an arrow on the attached photo? Am I right in thinking that the neck collar is the part at the rear of the helmet covered in perforations? Does the loom fit between this and the black plastic "spoiler" that is attached to the rear edge of the helmet (at the bottom of the photo)?

Well i popped up to Bikestop in Stevenage and after they took the time to answer the various questions i had i opted for the Pro duo Kit 300.

I have fitted the headset and boom mike etc, but am still searching away for fitting hints and tips for my 12GSA. I will probably end up going for a tank bag set up for ease of access.

I think the only thing i wanted to confirm was the part number (57?)for the cable to allow me to listen to my Garmin 2610 audio which is powered from the bike.

It seems I’m not alone! I too succumbed to the temptations on the Autocom stand and bought Kit 200 Active Rider, plus parts 1282 and 1293 which I was told I would need to make it all work. I use Ultimate Ear moulded plugs so it was then off to the Ultimate stand to get fitted for monitors, and yet another cable to make it all work. It was turning out to be an expensive day, but hopefully the end result will be worth it.

I spent some (a lot) of time fitting the headset into my Schuberth C2 helmet using the instructions on the Autocom web site, which I think show an older version of the C2 helmet. It all sounds very good, but I’m not happy with the speakers. I put them under the lining in the recess in the polystyrene, but they still stick out too much and compress the top of my ears slightly. Can anyone offer any advice on fitting to a C2 in a manner that won't compromise the integrity of the helmet? I have read about the hot spoon suggestion but I’m a bit wary. Alternatively I suppose I could cut the speakers off and only use monitors but would this affect the Autocom warranty?

One thing that Autocom might like to consider adding to their web instructions for the C2 is the importance of adjusting the flip latches when re-assembling, I found this was critical and it was easy to have one side not latching properly, despite the visual indicators suggesting it was latched.

Suggestions appreciated.

CBFer, where your arrow is move yourself forward by an inch and this is where I normally fit the looms mate.

Macfie.......older version of the C2? They are all the same as they have not changed in design. To help you along with the fitting where the circles are in the pads we compress the these and also make the circle into an oval. This will help make the speakers sit further into the cheek pads. As for the locking pins I have never had to adjust any pins since I have been working for Autocom, if it was needed I would of added them to my C2 instructions.

I would order part 18. It provides connectors for the earphones if you subsequently decide to use them and one for a microphone. A simple 3.5mm plug (you would have to specify stereo i think) hangs down next to the standard Autocom 7 pin helmet lead and connects to your UE monitors. This is the system I use and it works very well without having the bulky "connector" box of the part numbers that GSRich mentions. It also means you dont have to find room for the unused speakers in your helmet

Thanks to GSRich and Kritou for great advice as usual. I'll have a go at compressing the foam a bit. Rich, If your instructions are followed exactly, and both screws are removed, the pins will have lost their adjustment because there is nothing holding them. I think it would be worth pointing this out. Looking at the helmet it would, I think, be possible to remove only the front screw and clip to get the horseshoe off for access. This might preserve the critical setting of the locking pin. Maybe it was just me being a numpty, but I did follow the instructions! Photos below might clarify.

I made the same mistake when fitting my helmet. I appreciate that I got it wrong, but the instructions do seem to say remove those screws

I've also gone down the Ultimate Ear monitors route - and would prefer a part 18 headset loom with a 3.5mm socket connected to the speaker wires, rather than a coiled extension lead with a box/3.5mm socket on it, but cant find it on the brochure - is it still available? I've also got the Super Pro Avi with BGNS as well....

I think I will get the C2 instructions changed then to make it clearer to say remover the T8 screws not the alan key screws holding the pin locks in place.

The Part 18 with seperate 3.5mm connection is a sneaky special build headset I sort for customers not a stocked part as such. It would also not be suitable for use with a Super Pro as there is no connection for the BGNS. So we would need to adapt a Part 1126 to get you sorted mate.

Hi Rich,

Havin looked through the recent posts could you answer a question please. I would like a system that i can run seperate Ipods for me and pillion (my young lads taste in music is not mine) and converse when necessary, possibly also hook up the mobile and sat nav. For this does it mean buying the 300 kit pro duo or would another lesser model surfice.

It pains me to say this, but I think the only system that allows this is the new Starcom digital intercom. A shame - because I prefer the powered microphones of the Autocom system.
If my son wants to listen to his own music I have a separate mini-Autocom system for him - well it only cost me a fiver - but we cannot converse, and he doesn't have to listen to the satnav.

advice please?

HI all, anybody know what mobile phones have auto answer and will plug straight onto the autocom 3 pole 2.5mm lead?
i have a nokia 6230i but it involves using a pop port adaptor, which seems to be troubled with crud and dirt on the bottom of the phone, causing a bad connection and subsequent loss of comms.
i would like to just plug it staight in to the phone without an adaptor.

Ordered a Pro AVi Duo 300 from Chainspeed yesterday and it arrived by Special Delivery today - and Chainspeed don't even charge for postage . At least I think it arrived because I wasn't in and so got one of those "We're sorry me missed you" cards through the letterbox.

Rich - I did a search on Autocom and Shoei XR1000 and came up with a couple of threads in which you describe fitting the headset wiring loom between the outer shell and inner liner of the helmet. You describe pushing a spoon handle or similar between the outer and inner so as to separate the two enough to get the cable in between them. That sounds like a very neat way of doing it, but I don't get which part of the helmet you would push the spoon handle into. Could you explain further please?

As I have two bikes & would like to use the Autocom on both I was thinking of a tank bag or similar install this would include an ipod & GPS connected, has anyone a neat plug in multi power installation solution to cope with this.

Nice and simple you can replace the power lead fitted on your Super Pro with a detachable version with the below parts, nice and simple then

1x Part 1537 £8 (Power lead to plug into the Super Pro)
2x Part 1538's £6 each (12v power leads hard wired onto your bikes)

The plug connections are our din plugs so nice and solid and we normally fit them between the tank and seat between the riders leg making them easy ot get to for the connections.
