And it is fantastic!!!! think I can let my GSXR 1000K3 go now, can I just ask though, and I am sure its been asked before so sorry, but is they any way of stopping the OE screen from ratteling at low revs?:D

also does the BMW alarm flatten the battery? my Opitmate has saved the day 3 times now!

Ahh but there's run in and "run in" isn't there.....;)

ISTR that the OE alarm / immobiliser switches itself off after a period of time to prevent the battery from going flat. It's in the manual, so......

Hi Ian,

I noticed my bike has become a lot smoother at low revs as I`ve done more miles ( 1200, I know but the weather has been crap :P ) So just keep riding it! :thumb :moped:

Check the 2 screws on the screen are not loose. You may want to remove them and check the plastic holders that go into the mount and see if they are worn. If so get your dealer to order news ones on the warranty claim.

You need to, change the lower plastic screen mounting pegs for aftermarket items, at about £20, or wrap PTFE tape around the excisting pegs, to make them a tighter fit.
The abscence of that horrible noise, transforms the bike.

:D I used to have a GSX-R1000K1 :D :beerjug:

I cut my screen down, doesn't rattle at all, nor does it vibrate as much... :)

The BMW alarm should not drain the battery, but it did it for me, after leaving the bike for a bit more than a week, so I'm not 100% confident with the alarm/bike/battery anymore, I better ride it a lot just to make sure...
If you ask BMW however, I'm sure they say that it's not supposed to drain the battery. :)

I've been unable to ride for about two months (self inflicted DIY back injury) after the first 6 weeks I wheeled the bike out expecting the battery to be flat but it started second stab on the button. I guess this means the alarm does turn itself off, certainly the LED stops flashing after a few days. The manual says charge the battery every 4 weeks when not in use.
I only have an optimate 2 so I disconnected the battery and put the charger on and the next day it was fully charged. I wouldn't use the charger in desulphate mode (i.e. red light) but it won't do that unless it won't take the charge.

As well as checking that the front lower plastic screen mounts are not worn as advised, check they are in the 'right' way. They are handed with a slight bend in them. If they are fitted so the bend is downward it sometimes takes the bottom of the screen too close or even touching the clocks with the screen in certain positions and causes a rattle. If so swap them round so the bend is up! Clear as mud....:D

I'm sure you got your bike before I got mine Big Lee (23Oct) and I've now well and truelly overtaken ya.

Yes the weather in the NW has been crap but ya gotta get out there boy!

Rattle on screen

Take out black plastic pins on screen and put two small rubber O rings one on each pins shaft, this takes up the play due to wear and stops rattling plus any more wear as it is now rubber against metal. May be a little harder to re fit screen.

This is what our local dealer Rainbow is doing, to cure the problem until BMW come up with a fix.

Regards GS Man.:beerjug:

Yup, What Gsman1 said, use a couple of "o" rings. If you want some, send me a PM, I live just outside of Durham. Fix it in 5 minutes for you.
:D

Yeah only by 3 weeks! (30th september) & I did 600 miles in a week! Its trying to fit the biking in with babysitting, work (shifts) & fairly good weather amongst many other things tesco & :ukgser :D

I have cured my screen wobble by using the additional Touratch support. Its now rock solid, I think.

Hi Panzer Partrol, the website won,t let me send a PM?! my mob os 07799888723, and thanks for offer!

I think it's Touratech that do replacement pegs.
I used electricians, shrink fit, insulation tubing and using a heat gun shrunk it over the OE pegs. This has lasted 4K so far, without a return of the dreaded rattle. PTFE tape works ok but isn't so durable.
