Picked my bike up at 9.00am this morning - and went for a 100mile spin :D

Forget all the negative waves put about by some journalists - this bike is utterly brilliant, the twin-cam was a great bike but this new one is a huge step forward, it feels so much more refined than the old one, it is a thoroughly modern bike, fantastic engine, no vibes, sooo much smoother in every respect, light clutch, great steering, lovely gearbox, great new tyres.

I spent the first 50 miles deliberately riding over cats eyes, small pot holes, over-banding, deliberately waggling the bars, doing the hip-wiggle over bumps etc etc - there was not the slightest inkling of instability - handling in all areas is much much better than my old twin cam, the bike actually feels lighter too. I went for the basic suspension, so can't comment on the fancy ESA, ASC etc ones - all I know is that the basic bike is the utter dogs danglies! :D:D:D

If you are thinking about up-grading, go for it - this bike is brilliant!

Am i allowed to say that ithink that looks horrible:barf

I know i'm not in the market for one, but if i were that would make me look elsewhere.:eek

i like it :thumb2 all angular and purposeful , if we all like the same thing bikes would look pretty dreary :)

One thing most people commented on at the Jefferies open day was how many open tubes there are on the frame. The designer must have shares in Touratech or Wonderlich, 5 bungs required per side at £20.00 each, £200 per bike to finish it off properly.

I've seen the way you dress, your right, some people just love being weird:D

Seriously the area of plastic where the kneepads would normally sit, seems too big and complicated to be in a single tone/colour, i'd imagine there will be some sexy paintjobs done to utilise the contours there.

Just seen the one with panniers on, that looks better, hiding that horrible exhast.

Engineer... great report!

Engineer... you must feel relieved and vindicated at making the right choice. Like you, I’ve plumbed for the standard suspension model and collect my LC GS next Saturday. I’m not a great fan of electronic intervention. Five of my mates ride the full spec Multistrada. All admit, once they have selected their favourite ride mode they leave them alone making that hefty expenditure a tad redundant. Meanwhile, I’m happy to step off the bike and tweak the shocks until the optimum setting is found. Enjoy!

I had a ride out to Rainbow to see the new GS looks nice but not sure of a couple of things first the valves on the wheels are on the spokes? and the the look of the plastics around the throttle body intakes look strange but I imagine it will grow on me.

The exhaust looks a lot better on the bike than in the pictures and the engine looks like it will be easier to keep cleaner than the old one so might not loose its paint quite as fast. The seat feels softer and the lockable sat nav mount as standard is also good

How could you

How could you own a R1200GS when the 2013 model is about. Get down to your dealers sell your wife/husband/kids take out a lone, get finance just do it. Only once in your life will a bike come along as good as this.......

The 2005 12 GS they had in the showroom looked really cheap & quite nasty alongside the new one

The new one really is light years ahead in comparison in terms of design, styling & build quality - it really is a lovely bit of kit

Lovely enough to consider a change though, Johnny?

I don't mind the look of them TBH....there are some little details in there that I really DO like in fact, but lining up a full screen side on photo of one on one of my monitors and a full sized photo of my own 1150GSA on the other monitor, I'm afraid I'm still drawn to the ugly beast more than the toilet.

I would love another 30 horses on my bike, as I'm not doing much off-road stuff now, so who knows......

Every new version looks better than the last, well that the plan. Just look at the old 1150 clocks and switch gear its looking dated and looks quite rough and unfinished now compared to the first 1200 and the new WC but it still does the job.

I had a look over the new Bike for the first time today and agree with you :thumb2 Good luck to people getting the new WC and health to enjoy :beerjug:

Quite easily - my 12GS is the only 'new' bike I have had in over 35yrs of riding. It also happens to be the pinnacle of my riding career to date, therefore to me it is the only once in your life will a bike come along as good as this .

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be able have this bike and therefore want for nothing more right now.
Yes, the 2013 bike looks impressive but would I want it over mine, right here, right now? No thanks, I'm content with what I have and it's barely a year old FFS.

Popped to Williams today to have a look. Very nice indeed. Some lovely touches. Congratulations Engineer. Enjoy.
