I'm about to replace my ageing Garmin 2610 with a Garmin 660.
I don't want a "NOH" or any sort of refurb, I want new. I've found them on Tesco for £339, questions are these,
Does anyone know if these are new non NOH items, I can't see it in the Tesco website but it seems well cheap.
Is this the best price around, can I get it any cheaper anywhere else.
Thanks guys

They will be selling off any remaining stock, the 590lm is its replacement, I'm also on the hunt for a new nav and that's a good price.

Would I be better getting the 590lm to future proof myself a tad

Depends on what you mean by future proofing, I know of people using 'old' 550's with the latest maps, and they work perfectly.

If you want the latest gizmo with 'extras' then the 590 is the way to go... I certainly wouldn't change my 660 for the latest wizzbang, as long as mine is working.

To be perfectly honest I love my 2610, always have, great bit of kit, still works a treat, but since Garmin stopped supporting it and the mapping I feel it's time to change. I don't want to spend hundreds of £££ on something they will stop supporting in a few years time.

I had a 660 and sold it with the bike, new bike on route and I would have another again. I think the 590 has windy road option which the 660 does not have, but both can act as MP3 and phone which is all I need.

Just use openstreetmaps and you can keep your 2610.

I am still using my £35 Nuvi 765T. Same features as the 660, just not waterproof. So I bought a waterproof case....

NOH just means the contents have been transferred from one box to another. All the contents are still in their sealed bags.
It's just a way of selling to those not willing to be ripped off, without pissing off those who are. ;)

Yep, the NOH units are as new, same warranty, same accessories supplied, same updates and only difference is they come in a plain white box.

I've had NOH 550, wife's 660, my 660 and all my mates who've bought a Zumo have purchased NOH units. No point getting ripped off and paying extra for a pretty box you'll stick in the loft!

I thought NOH meant "Newly over hauled", so do you take the chance of a refurb product or a chance they have just swapped boxes.

Yes, they are overhauled but so as to bring them back to factory new condition. There is no lottery involved and no difference from a retail unit. I've purchased 3 over the last few years and all of my friends have NoH units.

I'm now thinking 590, always liked the 660 but 2610 has given great service over the years and I would like bluetooth and stuff and I don't want to get a few years down the line and Garmin say "we don't support that" so I think I'll get the 590.

The 660LM looks good

I've spent a little too much time reading a multitude of posts, reviews etc. on 'which sat nav' to get. I have used my phone and google maps over the last couple of years but to be honest it has let me down a few times...so i have convinced myself to get a dedicated device. I've been looking at car sat navs since i can easily make a waterproof enclosure (plan is/was to model it then 3D print + stainless details). Whilst i love the idea of this little project, time is something i have little of these days.

So, the alternative is motorcycle specific sat nav. After lots of searching, can anyone give a good reason why the 660LM would be a bad choice? I read an earlier post (very useful) which described the Garmin as better at handling the 'miss' of a way point/junction etc. Whereas the Tom Tom continued to insist on redirecting back to the auction/way point? Is this true?

Oh, i don't need 'Curvy Roads' and some other stuff the 590LM offers, but the MP3 player on the 660LM looks useful, to me at least!

Grateful for feedback.

Since the 590 does not support Mapsource, it is also a great excuse to learn the Basecamp replacement.

The 590 as with all new Garmins can easily be set up to work with Mapsource. Set it to " mass storage mode" and you will be fine
