Just picked up new gs, 126 miles and i've got a ASC fault. Fault light yellow and ASC icon flashing. Can anyone shed any light?

Mike

I feel that in your position with a new bike, my first thought would be to consult the manual and then the dealer. The first option should state what the light means under the circumstances in which it is displayed: the second option should offer expertise over the phone and actual hands on help to resolve what ever fault condition is afflicting your bike.

Have you inadvertently switched off the ASC? Page 50 of the Rider's Manual refers.

Why not just return to the the dealer? To be honest I can understand a person with a older bike with a problem coming on hear asking for advice .... but FFS get a grip its only done 126 miles FFS are you taking the piss! Or are you just daft honest question?

Or have you never ever ridden any motorcycle before ever in your whole life so that you don't know what to do ??? I don't know maybe I am less tolerant than most but a new bike less than 150 miles either read the book or go to the shop for advice you KNOW it makes sence!

I am sorry I'm feeling a bit irritable to night. If you have a real a problem return to the shop they will offer you a reason for the problem and set your mind at ease.

RTFM

Page 35 (section 3) of the manual shows all the warnings for the ASC. Check that you haven't deactivated the ASC whilst "playing" with your new bike.

What is hell is wrong with asking a question? Yes, he could read the manual or phone his dealer BUT he's chosen to ask the question here first.
If you don't like that then there's no reason to post.

Let's face it, has his question cost you anything? No? Then shut the f@ck you miserable b@stards and let the section be what it's supposed to to be; a resource and repository for information about the BMW GS.

Rant over:rob

Welcome the the forum and congratulations on the new bike. Not 100% sure but I think it may be that the ASC self diagnosis did not complete so it is not available. You have to go over a certain low speed (5km/hr?) to complete the self diagnosis.

Well said Edventure!!!!:thumb
This is a great forum but too many idiots are too quick to either criticise or be sarcastic towards others who have a query, no matter how daft a question might seem to someone else to the person posting it it is important, otherwise they wouldn't have asked in the first place.
Nice one Ed.

Please tell me which dealers are open at that time of night.

He has probably collected his bike - gone for a ride and then a fault occurs.

He cannot search on ABS or ASC

So give the guy a chance

Simple, when you get back you put the bike on the sidestand, switch off the engine and open the manual to the section on "ASC" and/or warning lights, to see if the fault is listed. If it is and can be easily rectified, then worry over, if not then post on here.

Not rocket science is it.

Yes, I did the right thing

Having recently bought a Multistarada I still check out this forum. There are less problems with the Ducati and more importantly the Ducati Forum does not have idiots like jwpzx9r

Fewer problems, fewer bikes, fewer users, fewer trolls - sounds about right :)

To all please accept my apologies for my earlier post:( I am not normally like that and I think you could say I was having a bad day... still not a good excuse for the outburst but I will not let it happen again.
