Not only that but I think the donor bike they used is a triple black so buying a cheap early 1200 won't get you a bike that looks like that. :(

All the same, I'd strongly consider it. I'm of a mind to sell the 1150GSA because I just don't ride it anymore and this has sort of taken my fancy. On the original site you can mess around with a couple of options including panniers and a little rallye fairing

The price is definitely obscene - however it would be wise to remember this option if ever the need arises to replace all the bits after an accident.... might be cost effective then? :beerjug:

Definitely. I like it, but I don't £3k like it...

That's pretty difficult to judge really. Until someone has seen one in the flesh we have no idea of the quality. If it's up to factory spec. then it's probably on a par with what BMW would charge you. For a small production run kit it's probably not unreasonable.

A similar transformation on a Harley would cost a lot more.

I saw it at the Motorrad Days in Garmisch this summer. IMO, it is ugly as sin, and even worse in real life. So I didn't look that close, but the quality looked ok to the casual eye.

It didnt look particularly good on the 30th anniversary models, nor did it on the Rally but boy does it look good on the originals

So the answer is.......... ?

Looks like a great way to spend a lot of money to make your late model bike worth just about zero on the re-sale market! :rob

Why pay over 3K for a collection of questional bits, when you can have the real thing, which will actually be an investment?

The relocated oil radiator seems just a tad exposed .......

30 year GS Adventure is the only one to have............!:thumb

I mean lets face it its big, powerfull enough, got a good pose factor and does what it does well and it's got 'the' sticker although I must admit i quite like the 'blandness' of the Sandrover but the Triple Black thingy's are for EMO's and Goths.

The rest including the 'overpriced dinosaurs' are just plain old GS's and handy for going to the shops but as for RTW I guess those old farts used them cos there was now't else at the time ..........:nenau

I do like the look of the retro GS thingy though............!

Ok.....you buy a nice low mileage 1200GS for around £6k or less, buy the retro kit for £3400 then sell on your spare plastics, headlamp, seat etc to recover some of the retro kit outlay.

You've now got something very interesting and different from the rest of the GS stable and it'd still be worth a few bob for uniqueness alone!

Nice!

FP.

Well I struggle to see you would get much for the redundant original bits. Say you get £500 it still amounts to a £2900 cost, and it wont add a penny of value to the bike.

I was thinking £500 for bits aswell...........It'd be a shame to 'chop' a new GS though making it 'less' of a bike.

I'll just have to wait untill i see one in the flesh and then I can ask the owner how and why he did it etc............!

Wonder how many they'll sell?
