New GSA price is.....

Nuts, I can`t fault you for your positive attitude but I do feel JB is right - they are fekkers for it with new models,,,,,,,,,, I very much doubt you will get much `thrown in`.

I did with my LC, and that was one of the first registered.:rob:D People need to learn to negotiate the right deal, and not get too excited.

Agreed - now that it is a real touring machine

The GSA WC if the price is £15295 Otr with Premium & Dynamic - LE if that's what they call it + boxes etc then it's going to be well over £16k +, so that's a fair old wedge

I'd rather hang by the neck until dead. 1600K is the worst machine I've ridden in a long time, it brought back memories of all the horrors of the K100RS 16v that I bought new in 1992

Is there going to be a bog standard GSA then without all the techno wizardry?

Ducati do it with their MS

That looks like what the BMW web site is showing i.e. standard GSA and then the 2 "special" editions same as the vanilla GS.

A standard one will no doubt have to be ordered from Germany ;)

I was told today by my dealer that there are three versions:

The Adventure, Adventure XE & Adventure LE which spec wise will be the same as a 1200GS TE

When I enquired as to what an Adventure with no bells & whistles would cost me I was told £12600 but when I said I wanted heated grips, board computer, fog lamps and an LED headlamp the price came out at £14250

Apparently all the Adventures have board computers as standard and there is some debate as to wether or not heated grips are standard or a cost option as there was no price listed on their system

Time will tell :thumby:

Curious that the KTM 1190 Adventure seems MUCH better value

Extensive standard equipment:
» MSC featuring lean-sensitive cornering ABS
» C-ABS
» MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control)
» Multi-function cockpit
» Daytime running light
» LED indicators
» Adjustable ergonomics
» Adjustable windshield height
» Ultra-stable offroad spoked wheels
» Immobiliser
» Aluminium handlebar, ball-burnished and tapered
» Luggage rack and case brackets
» Servo fan
» Handguards
» Centre stand
» Steel crash bars
» TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

I have the PDF price list from BMW here. The basic comes in at £12,600, the XE at £14,765, and the TE at £15,350 (which includes the LED headlight, daytime running lights, auxiliary lights etc).

I test-rode both the KTM1190 and the GS WC yesterday with the intention of going either way for either the R or the GSA. The GS won out. It hadn't anywhere near the same turn of speed nor was it as light, but for my immediate needs, the GSA's build quality, residual values, and feel, felt like it was money better spent. Hursts Motorrad got my deposit and I'm in line.

Where did you cut & paste that from?

So you've ordered a bike based on the riding experience of a similar model from the same manufacturer? I suppose the good new is if you ride their demo before you take delivery of your own bike and don't like it, they can always give you your deposit back :thumby:

Having an older 1200GSA and ridden a standard GS I found them very different animals and certainly wouldn't hand over £15K based on guesswork. Good luck to you though.

So you've ordered a bike based on the riding experience of a similar model from the same manufacturer?

F800GS bought 4 months before it was launched. Turned out to be an inspired choice as 35k hard miles after 2 years (to the other side of the world), it didn't miss a beat and still going strong (keeping it exclusively for off-road work owing to its tricked up suspension etc). Therefore, doing something similar with the GSA in terms of buying without trying. I am used to the height and the engine is the same as in the standard GS, so it bodes well and gives me enough confidence. Still liked the KTM, but with the 800 in the garage, don't need 2 off-road orientated bikes.

At £15,350 - I'd expect it to conjure up - daylight!

David, as I said earlier...

Not many actually buy them, they just 'rent' them for £200-£300 per month - so it matters not that it costs £16k otr with luggage

Price per month, mate...................that's modern motorcycling:D

That works for me though :) It's my "Company Car", the other bikes (W800 / ZX12R) are "mine" but my GSA is a tool to get to work and back. I like this one though, so could well end up buying it at the end of the Select agreement.

£15k is a hell of a lot of money for a bike though, especially when you could get the same distance / load lugging capability on a good 1150 for a third of the price.

Oh Jeez - factory had better stop building the GSA LC IMMEDIATELY!

What's the point with all these better bikes available (Cross Tourer, Explorer, KTM, Honda F***ing 90 etc) ?

He said that the KTM "seems" to be better value...................

Do you think maybe - your reaction is a tad over the top?

I'm sure they're very nice and all that, but how do they justify that sort of price tag? Thats a shed load of dosh for a bike.

Allowing for inflation its not all that much more than an R1100GS cost back in the late 90s. £14,341 in todays money.
