hello ,new to uk gser well new to forums full stop ! just got a 1150gsa 03 having ridden sports bikes all my life the body couldnt stand anymore.picked bike up in spain expat owner rode back to uk no probs,rode bike to scotland for a weekend had a bit of trouble after a water crossing ,gave it a full ser,but have developed a nasty flat spot between 1,000 to 2,200 rpm then accelerates as normal would appeciate some info on how to test tps/coils etc .starting to panic a bit as taking it to italy at weekend hopefully.

As an 03,its probably a twin spark.They have a habit of knackering their coils.
Do a search (on bar at top of page) for "coil" or "stick".You should find test procedures there.
Also find the TPS set-up there too.

had a search through but i couldnt find any test info,i have set throttle switch to .5v closed and seams to operate through to 4.8 v with no gitches,removed coil sticks i get a resistance reading of 1.0 ohm across outer terminals of each coil but i also get continuity from outer terminals to coil body/stem when i refit the coils and run the bike i cant see any tracking to heads but also when i pull coils away from plugs i can hardly notice any differance in running ,it seems like the two plugs under the head are doing all the work? im talking myself into coils but wary of jumping to the wrong conclusion

To test the main coil caps Pull the bottom plug leads off and see if it runs on the mains.

bike still runs with lower plug leads off ,have noted if i open trottle gently its worse if i blip the throttle up to 2,500-3,000 rpm it revs clean through rest of rev band up and down,now iam talking myself out of coil sticks.
maybe i,ll have to start riding it like a stroker slip it up and let it go!!!!
