new member needing advice.

Anything that transmits a "clunk" through the system goes against the grain with me, whether it's right or not...... My ABS doesn't work, so I don't have the problem, I'm not going to end up getting cocky and relying on it as a failsafe and it doesn't make me cringe every time I ride it..... Sorted.....

The one thing I have found on here is if you ask a serious question ( just like you have) then people will answer your question with the correct answer, Most on here have rode gs's of one type or another for many many years ( old gits) and hundreds of thousands of miles,,They know their stuff.
So when 3 people say it your ABS checking its self, trust me...its you ABS checking itself..
Its very very rare that they get it wrong,
I would go as far as to say that some on here can diagnose the noise/fault in your engine ONLINE...Thats how good they are.
So ride your bike and enjoy it mate...

Obviously - I felt the same when i heard it for the first time in 1997.
The advice back then still applies today; if you don't like the noises the bike makes - wear earplugs. :thumb

15yrs later after hearing this same noise everyday I've grown beyond my paranoia of that first ride out of the dealership. :D

Oh.. and i wouldn't describe it as a 'clunk' - to me it always sounds like something just FELL OFF. And is at times - highly amusing, when bystanders hear it. (particularly Bikers) :pullface

It also sounds like your centre stand has been left down and as you ride away is clunking is it retracts.

Clunk

Flog it quick before you have a nervous breakdown, if not just ride the bloody thing.
