New project - R100rs naked

May one suggest Sir has a "look see" at K60 scouts they are quite meaty and most bodacious!

Heidenau K60 Scout 4.00-18 TT 64T looks a meaty bugger :weights but couldn't find a 100/90 size :(

I think I'll leave the alloy bracing bar as it is, just to piss you off ! :D Besides, I remember your last project :yikes

Mitas E 07's have the meaty look, are available in the correct sizes, and have recently been reformulated with a nice sticky rubber and a more rounded profile.

The old harder rubber one lasted me three limes as long as Scorpion AT s,or Distanzas, with about the same grip.

The new ones have much more grip, and still look like they will go twice as far as the others.

My 120/18 rear measures 127 mm over the knobs on the rim, so it rubs the shock spring on a mono - nothing a kitchen knife wont fix.

Kenny will ya take those STUPID alloy braces off or paint them black they look schiter than a big bag of schite !

+1 :thumb

They serve no purpose at all (apart from looking stupid). If you want to brace the frame motoren Israel do a decent bracket that bolts between the top if the engine and the top tube.

Anyway an old fart like wouldn't push the handling of an electric buggy let alone an rs :D

I like your comment " She'll almost be finished".
This is an airhead: there'll always be something else to do.
Just think Forth Rail Bridge and you should be fine!

Had a nice 'bimble' today; spanked the pants off her and she runs superb right up to the redline - private road of course ( superior handling with the advanced bracing bars btw :augie )

Here's those bars, part number ( also for the K100RS and more comfortable than standard airhead RS bars  ) 2309754...and todays offer also includes a free pair of R100RS front springs ( and no you can't have them unless you buy the RS bars ) . Have stuck an advert in the For Sale section....heavy parcel so sadly £8 to post. I want £35 for the bars plus £8 P & P

Incidently, tis my intention to fit TCK 80's to the bike......obviously the rear is a 4.00 X 18 ...... has anyone fitted this tyre to the rear of their twin shock...had a look at the caliper steady bar and it is very close to the standard tyre.....could someone measure the outside width of the actual rubber so I'll know it it will fit; shame it it doesn't !

:beerjug:

I've got TKC80s on my twin shock R80/7 - though it's a drum braker so no issues with torque arms. There's good clearance on the shaft side, thanks to the waist in the swingarm that side. The 4.00 tyre measures 11.4cm in width...

Thanks Sean, just the measurement I needed :thumb2

Incidently ( besides probably feckin' up the running :() has anyone fitted a K & N cone air filter to their Airhead?
I'm sure it would vibrate itself half to death if just mounted by the engine-to-carb rubber:eek! Am I missing something or does it sit fine with just the single rubber mount?:nenau ( Only asking as OE airbox is fine, just trying to be a tad different :) ) Pic ( poor one ) of what I mean .......

OK...whilst waiting for my knee stitches to be removed next week...took the bike to Verns for some serious modification to the stainless steel silencers:) I wanted about 10 inches removed so they became stubby and a tad more 'throaty'

So....I stood bike whilst the maestro got out his hacksaw :eek

Took a lot of time to saw through the stainless but we got there in the end ! Here's the inside... all s/s and well made if I may say so !

We needed help so called in an expert ...... his advice was invaluable :bow

....hmmm..maybe we should do the other one as well :D

So, rode home in the *issing wet weather and she sounds lovely...nicer deeper burble and looks a lot LOT better on a bobber conversion. Doesn't pop or bang on the over-run etc :thumb2
Big thanks to Vern for brilliant workmanship ( http://www.projectvnd.com/ ):clap

Just needing a set of TKC80's, fork gaitors and a blob of 'olive drab' paint and jobs a goodun :thumb2

.... and for the techno probes...here's what the baffles look like ! We put half the baffles back in creating a great sound :thumb2

Oh Feck you just sawed up a pair of Brakewell and Greens

If you knew how much they cost when new you'd cry Kenny

That would probably be why they were so well made

How Do I know My acquired roadster project has a pair just the same but he got the weld buffed and polished and you wouldn't know they were cut unless you look hard at them

Awesome sound as you say :thumby:

Not much of an update :( ( only had my knee stitches out yesterday !:tears )...got the paint...polished up the silencers...now need advice on handpainting the tank etc. Apparently the paint I bought will go straight onto the ( rubbed down ) tank without a primer. I have some 'plastic' prep primer for the mudguards although they certainly won't flex !

TKC80's haven't arrived yet :(

So oil change and drop arm ball joint on Landy is the job for today:bounce1

Been 'doing up' a nice little 650 to help fund this project, so not a lot done over the last few days...however...polished up the silencers and they've come up superb :bounce1

... then set about fondling her legs.....

... before buying her a nice ( feckin' expensive ) set of OE boots to cover those luvverly legs up :D

Lots of little odds 'n' sods done .... now just the TKC80's and (eventually ) the drab olive paint job :thumb2

Just thought I'd 'straighten up' the fuel tap on the nearside ( OCD is me :D ) then very minor weep starts where threaded section screws into the tank....AAAAAARGH !!:(

Looks like another visit to Verns for brazing :bounce1:clap...

or should I go for:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....akeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en

Petrol tap ( left side ) is also deceased so I'll be needing one of them as well !! Anyone got one they want to sell me ?
