New project - R100rs naked

Leaking taps;
i've fixed in the past with PTFE (plumbers) tape on the threads. :nenau

I'm liking this thread - makes me want to approach me Guzzi with a wire brush and the Hammerite... :eek
I mean - do a proper restoration on it of course. :augie

Tap casing split on removal.....anyhows, ordering a new tap tomorrow and a few minor goodies.....but.......not the biggest fan of the BMW logo because of their stance against anyone using the logo for clubs etc......so when I paint the tank...any ideas what to stick in the indentation on the tank :ymca? If all else fails..I'll stick a badge BMW on and colour it red etc ( bit of a rebel is me :D )

Just need to get Vern sober enough to braze up the tank/petrol tap mount now :bounce1

Badge Idea

Standard don't look too bad on this one in green

or maybe go tactical instead of red?

of course if the later removing zips and buttons off your jacket is optional!:hide

LOL - I think red BMW logos ( like in my avator ) are the way forward ! :D

So ordered two nice fresh tank logos and a petrol tap....still can't find Vern to braze up my tank as yet !

Edit:- as the weep was very VERY minor..went for the extra strong Araldite fix ( 14 hours to set  )...so hopefully get on with rubbing her down during the week :)

Happy Days :bounce1 ( well until I put petrol in and it pisses out !! :D )

Kenny Buff that araldite schit off and take it to bare metal

When I was with Serck Marston we used to do solder repairs on fuel tanks

The fuel will get behind the araldite and it will harden erode or break up!

Trust me here I have seen just about every repair that has been "Botched" onto a tank in my time

If you have a local Car/Tractor/Truck radiator repairer they should easily be able to effect a Solder repair which will be safe and wont deteriorate

:thumby:

To late ! :D

That araldite took 24 hrs to cure ( tis only the absolute smallest weep known to living man ) and will be OK :thumb2 Been there, done it before  ( Even if it did weep, I wouldn't tell you :D )

Update 6th Oct. :- Rubbed down the tank and primed little bits etc....OE paint has been 'roughened up' and will make a nice base coat/primer for the Army 'paint anything' paint :clap The black side panels have been butchered accordingly and rubbed down/primer ( plastic primer ) and they are also ready for a top coat :thumb2

Getting there.........just the two mudguards to go :bounce1

Well, first coat has gone on by brush/hand and well pleased ( it is a bit darker than in the photo :thumb )....tyres have even arrived

Good friend ( yes, I have one :D ) offered to spray it for me but I actually want brush marks on the tank/panels/mudguards etc.

Getting there.........

Been a fruitful day today.
Second coat of Drab Olive applied to the
tank and side panels so they are almost finished ( just a second coat
of the underneath of the tank tomorrow) and a darker colour now .

Decided to crack on and remove rear wheel for the new TKC80...but what a
PITA ( I think the bike was built around this wheel and tyre - lol )!!

Firstly, rear rack stops the wheel from coming out and the rack ( only 1mm between tyre wall
and shaft - same the other side with the calliper torsion bar ) is virtually
one wrap around piece of engineering...so rather than modify that, I decided
to cut 90mm off the bottom of the mudguard; this enabled the rear wheel
( once deflated ) to be removed ( also centre stand on 1 inch of wood and
silencers removed) !! 4.00 X 18 TKC80 is about 13mm narrower then the 120/90 so will go on easily:thumb2

Then applied special primer ( for fibreglass )... and will Drab Olive this tomorrow.

... and heres the myriad of racking as it stands now !!

Badges on tank ( plus new petrol tap etc ) and some black paintwork to tidy up the rear end,
then I can move onto the front mudguard.......getting there :bounce1

Slow start today 'cause of major hangover:( ( those that know me also know I don't drink as a rule :hide )... anyways...some pics of her going together...and should be ready for combat on Monday :bounce1.

So we've waited since the 9th of August for you to brush paint your bike green and you give us ta da!

I'm glad your happy with it Kenny :thumb

Those silly bars are now completely superfluous now you've gone and cocked the handling up by fitting tkcs so are you going to take them off now?

Well the camo colour works - as long as you keep parking in front of those doors. :D

I rather like it. :thumb2

Most people start with a 'shed' and end-up with something nice . . . . . .

Kenny is obviously bucking the trend.

:D :D :D :D

Bob.

:thumb

personally i think that green would be better in a matt finish rather than gloss/satin and those bags look pretty small

but each to there own I've painted things before people didnt like , my 1200 springs to mind...... metallic apple green with bronze  :thumb2
