In less than 12 hrs, I will have made the deal for a new 07 1200GS. Wire wheels, ABS, trip comp, traction control, everything but tire pressure monitor! I am so excited. It has been almost 3 years since I binned the SV650 and pulverised both wrists. Ouch. My first ride since then was a test ride on the 1200 last week, followed by a test ride on the Dakar 650. No contest. I have been pouring over the forums, deciding on the most suitable first farkle. It's going to be crash bars. I know it's been done to death, but I have narrowed it down to SWM, or TTech. My question revolves around the pros and cons of anchoring to the frame (SWM), or anchoring to the engine (TTech). The price is right on SWM, so they are currently my first choice. I am not too fussed about removing for dealer service, so that's a wash. Anyway, it's a real treat reading all the posts, and yes, I did many searches on crash bars. If you have any advice for a new GSER, I'm ready to learn! thanks
