Looking at my new to me 2018 800 GSA I have a few questions please:

Does it look like the front forks have been dropped to lower the front? Not sure how I can tell if the back shock is lower as well if it is?

The bike came with a Deklavic exhaust and even with the baffle in i find it very loud, looks like I can pick up a used original easily on eBay, but what other options should I look at maybe? Not too loud 😳

Thanks

Yes the forks have been lowered about 15mm, the upper yoke top should line up with the 2nd line down for the original fork height.

Thanks guys, it doesn’t look as though the centre stand has been altered, is there any way to check if the rear suspension has been lowered? Thanks

It looks like if I raise the front to normal the rear tyre will be on the floor using the centre stand?

I would have thought that if the rear suspension had been lowered that the rear wheel would actually be higher off the ground when on the centre stand.

Returning the forks back to the original position is relatively easy so I’d just concentrate on one change at a time before trying to measure anything at the back.

Not sure if there is an option for a designated centre stand specifically for lowered bikes, but if there was it might not be obvious to the eye that there is any difference to a standard centre stand.
Perhaps worth looking on the BMW parts list or measuring the distance from the pivot bolt to the bottom of the leg and asking is another owner could do the same and compare notes

Here we go, looks like 34cm from top of nut to floor, it’s a GSA, if anyone gets the chance to check either standard GS or GSA, it’s a 2018 plate, thanks

Ok I’ve raised the forks back up to where they should be and still have good height clearance on the rear, so I don’t think the rear has been lowered 👍🏻

It actually looks more the front forks have been raised through brace rather than dropped. I’m not sure why anyone would do this.

Exhaust wise I’d say the safe bet is a used standard one. They sound OK in my opinion and won’t be to loud.
Better than going with another aftermarket one and being disappointed, probably a lot easier on the wallet as well as the ears.

Looks like you are sorted , but for anyone reviewing this thread in the future. The low chassis F700/800 GS ship with a side stand only. A mainstand can be bought from SW Mocheck. I know this for the 700gs as mine came with only a side stand I fitted the SW mainstand and its easy to take on and off the stand.
