I am going for a test ride on one next weekend, not really thinking of chopping in the GS but just fancied a go on one. Whats the conidered opinion on them round these parts?

Without sounding rude make your own mind up.

I got rid of a 2010 GSA for one, so you know what I think.

Might be just me but, the model without the beak looks like it has something missing.......Possibly a beak......:D

Looks like it used to have a beak, then it was crashed, now it doesn't have a beak...

Road model doesnt have a beak as standard, can be got as an accessory, the XC is a far nicer bike to ride on Irish roads, I got rid of an 1150gs and a k1200r to buy one

I test rode one yesterday, really wanted to like it, first 1/2 hour was fine then the constant whissing of the engine started to grate on me, not a relaxing ride
more the sort of thing to go for a thrash on maybe a street triple might suit the engine better.
As a long distance machine not for me I'm afraid, and the position of the bars made my thumbs hurt :nenau
I really miss a GS, I feel myself pulled back to a boxer, I was really glad to get back on my Ducati ST2 :D

I tried the standard bike and found te screen just flapped around as I went over bumps, it's really wobbly

I kept my GSA SE and got one. Excellent bike but it needs to be compared to the 800 GS not the 1150 or the 1200GS. It has the best engine of any bike i've had so far and is desperate to be thrashed. I'm doing a trip to Slovenia on it next month and will let you know if I made the right choice of going by Tiger or if I should have taklen the GSA when I get back.

I've put an MRA screen on which improved the original (same as I did on my GS). Still looking for somehow to mount my GPS above the original clocks which I prefer - all ideas welcome.

I still think the Stelvio is my next bike or the new 1200 Triumph adventure;)

AndyT:cool:

Good engine but I absolutely HATE the sound they make. - so much so I cant buy one because of it.

I had a 955 back in 04, had trouble with it
but I could ride it for miles because of the relaxed way the engine made power
maybe the 1200 tiger will have more torque lower down but as a milemuncher the 800 didn't cut it for me
I thought I would like it as the 800 gs engine just seems too flat but its more relaxed over distance but doesn't seem to have any spark to keep it interesting I thought the tiger might, but it probably had too much and I'm too lazy to keep up intense riding these days :augie
I may test the 800 gs again and maybe a 1200 then buy another 1150 :D

The 1050 seems too sporty for me although great fun. The older 955's are great and a bargain at the moment. I know what you mean about the 800 Tiger and thrashing it and time will tell if I get too much of that side of things. I'm desperate to get down to 2 or 3 bikes again so thats why I say I don't think the 800 is a long term thing but a nice bike all the same:thumb2
