New year new bike

Congratulations! You're going to love it, I still can't get over how good the newer incarnation of the boxer engine is. God only knows what the latest ones are like!

Didn't get a chance to make progress on the test ride as the traffic is a bit pants around that part of Bristol but all things equal i will be collecting it next Saturday and it will get a good run back to Kent.

Went to Bath Rd Motorcycles yesterday Paddington to Bristol temple meads 1hr 45 mins sitting in BRM at 9.15 am with a coffee so far so good.
This bike is completely different from the 1100 GS it is lighter faster the fuelling is cleaner no kangaroo juice in traffic, the gearbox is much lighter than the 1100 it does not need six gears with that amount of torque though i wasn't sure about the linked brakes at first but they got better with use power and plenty of feel and the rear is not linked on the pedal.
I rode back to Kent via Melksham, Devizes, Upavon roads were wet and greasy with bright sunshine reflecting off the surface so making progress was difficult as i had no wish to chuck it down the road on the first day, the Metzler Tourance tyres have a deserved reputation that made that nightmare situation less likely.
After a stop at countess services on the A303 tea, sandwich, little boys room, i finished the journey on dual carriageway/motorway the low fuel light came on a mile from Clackett lane on the M25 so erring on the side of caution put in 13.5 Ltrs that means i have 6.5 Ltrs to play with a comfortable reserve but didn't know that at the time.
fuel consumption works out at 49 MPG happy with that.
In the garage today as i have a pile of shiny bits and farkles to bolt on.

Exciting times and congratulations on your new bike. Any trips planned to stretch it's legs?

Not planned any yet front tyre is low so i am going to give a pair of Avon trailriders a go just to get out riding to get used to it at the mo.
