:)For 5 years, my BT Voyager router (bought privately in the days before ISPs started giving them to new subscribers) has given sterling service on my BT Broadband. But recently it has become troublesome, requiring reboots and/or resets several times a day.

Surfing the web, there are some nice offers out there for new subscribers, including free routers. However, not all are applicable to my mere 0.5 mb line ( and not a cable within a days walk) and I have always found that having the same company provide the telephone line and Broadband has negated the wrangling over whose fault a problem may be.

So I contacted BT, said I was looking at other ISPs and asked what they could offer. Result! 12 month reductions on my broadband, line rental and caling package for a 12 month commitment. Plus their latest router FOC.

Thank you BT :clap:bounce1:clap

Plus, they reminded me about the 'accelerator' and the offer on bt.com for BT Broadband users. Took me a while to find the relevant page, but the accelerator is FOC for BT Broadband customers, just need to pay £1.20 postage. Worth a thought for any BT Broadband users out there.:thumb2

That's useful Exeter Lad, I have just ordered one. :thumb2

There's very few alternatives to BT here, but I find that they aren't too bad.

i think someone who works for bt will have to confirm this, but those accelerator boxes are only any use if you have the 3rd (bell ring) wire still attached to your phone line. i believe they are an electrical noise suppressor for the wire that used to make the bell ring on the old phones. i have buggered around with a few home telephone extensions/networks and none of them have had the third wire. they will work for the few that still have the the third wire but every one else they are just a bit of a psycological boost for your BB

I have had several occasions to call the BT customer services in Mumbai with connection problems but now have their desktop help application installed. Issues now appear to be detected and fixed semi-automatically

My Voyager 220V router has decided to go on sick leave (3 years service and no problems) .. Used BT IT call centre (0800 number :thumb ) and the IT guy did his remote diagnostics checks bit and yep, its the router.

Customer service guys says, 220V it no longer made, and out of warranty, as existing contract holder and if I stay with BT, they can supply new router with new 12 month contract at £12.99 (save £3/month) so am awaiting new black router.

So far its been good service, even from IT call centre in Mumbai, who explained well and was patient.
