My 1999 1150GS left me stranded on the road. The fuel pump didn't make any sound when I turned the ignition switch. I tried swapping in the horn relay, but that didn't help. I then realized the horn wasn't working either—could two relays have gotten stuck? I ended up getting a tow home. Now, back in the garage, the motorcycle starts up normally, and the horn is working too.Two weeks ago, I was left stranded on the road again because of the Motronic relay. When the roadside assistance brought me home, I swapped it with the horn relay, and it worked. I thought it was an issue with the relays themselves, but it’s actually something else.

Apparently, removing and reinserting the relay, along with the engine cooling down, is what fixes the engine.

Sounds like an intermittent electrical issue rather than two relays failing at the same time. I’d check the relay sockets and connections first, especially for loose contacts, corrosion, or heat-related faults. The fact that removing and reinserting the relay restores operation is a strong clue. Hopefully, you can track down the root cause before it leaves you stranded again!
