R1100GS 1999 110,000kms : Strange - no rev counter today ? Any thoughts what to check first ? everything else seems to be working fine . Is this just likely to be a fuse ? :nenau

Wow - everyone must be out riding their bikes instead of reading this thread ;)

Checked the wiring diagram and you have 3 wires going to the tacho'

Power
Signal from motronic
Ground (Brown wire)

My money is on a dodgy connector, or earth connection in the loom on the RHS of the beak

:bow will check that first. It's a tricky one to test because I need the tank off to get at the wiring but I need the tank on to run the engine to see if it's working or not :nenau

Hmmm.... finally got round to getting under the tank and looking for the problem but I'm damned if I can see anything out of sorts.
I can't actually see an earth on the right side of the beak but I can trace the wiring back from the tacho , down the loom under the tank (more or less) and it all looks OK.
Has anyone ever experienced tacho failure? Could be the tacho itself ?

A mate had a failed Tacho on an 1100:beer:
