Decathlon do them for mountain biking, probably 1/3 the price of an equivalent motorcycle job, just make sure the straps are long enough to go over your jacket

What’s the word on how much luggage/gear you have to carry on the bike each day ?
Luggage. Goes in a support truck though you carry a few bits on the bike they have panniers

Presumably, you arrived safely. Safe travels, looking forward to the updates (No pressure!) as still considering the same trip. I keep procrastinating as I do like a decent hotel and a nice meal at the end of the days riding and I’m not sure I want to ride in such challenging environments at my age!
We are all heading into the mountains from Chandigarh now as a group in Toyota 4WD’s to collect the bikes.

AMS ( Acute Mountain Sickness) is very real .
I’ve been taking Diamox tablets since we hit the mountains . We’ve regularly been above 15000 feet and went up to just below 18000 today .
When flying , if we have a decompression we stay on oxygen until below 10000 feet .
No phone signal here in Ladakh province as run by military .

Today a high point () of the trip when we ascended the mighty Khardung La up at 17982 feet above sea level . It’s the highest accessible pass in the world . There are now a few higher but some aren’t open to tourists and others are a good five day trip from Leh with sustained time above 15000 feet which really requires oxygen .
Leh is at 11500 ish so it’s a 6500 ish feet gain in an hours ride . We had to switch to rented Himmy 411s due local rules .
