Norton Ghost Help....

Hi i've just installed Norton Ghost 9 to image my pc drive as a fail safe, but just realised that i need the bootable cd to actually recover my pc...

only problem is, i've installed from a file on my pc as i've errrm, "lost" my original so i don't have a cd...

anyone know how i can create one? or have one i can copy?

Ofcourse if anybody knows of any alternative products then don't be shy... give me a tip

Following some recomendations here (cookie etc) I've started using Acronis True Image...it doesn't need a boot disk to recover and does seem a lot better.....I had Ghost on for a while but it kept stalling so I've given it the heave-ho.

Norton and Acronis will create a bootable CD to recover from.

you still need an acronis boot disc if you can't get into windows for any reason. you can create one from the main acronis window.

I've used my friend bearshare, but every copy of Acronis i've downloaded has a virus in it, so as yet i'm unable to source a copy... anybody point me in the right direction??????

I'd already tried there, but at 1.6kb download speed from their server, even on a corporate network it's a 24hr download!!!!

Any ideas where i can get it a little quicker?????

you still need an acronis boot disc if you can't get into windows for any reason. you can create one from the main acronis window.

If you take up the option to have an Acronis partition on your local HDD you can boot into Acronis by pressing F11 just after your POST has run.
This is handy for rolling back when you need to - just ask Fanum
I also do a backup to a networked external HDD for the times when my laptop HDD dies; restores real quick compared to a USB external.

Ok, so i've managed to download it now, and it's installed as a 15 day trial.

However from another post on this site, i've got a serial number, but i can't find anywhere on the trial version to put the serial to "unlock" it... HELP???

The only thing i could find was an online account thing where i have to register with Acronis, then add a serial number, but when i tried that it says i have a valid serial, but my product can't be registered, please contact support immediately???

I'm assuming the serial is already registered, hence i can't use it.. anyone know of a way around this? Key generator etc?
