My girl friend and I are planning to ride to Stockholm this summer. Currently we are planning to ferry from Harwich to the Hook, then ride through Holland, Germany and overnight in Denmark day 1.

Day 2 push for Stockholm and spend a few days with family. The help I need is planning a return via Norway. Any ideas or if you've had experience of Norway, let me know.

In an ideal world we would want to get a ferry directly back from Norway. We think that Trondheim may be too far and getting back may be a challenge. Bergen or Stravanger seems better and we think there is a DFDS Ferry from Brevic to Immingham we could use.

Any help or advice is most welcome.

Bad news:
No ferry from Norway to the UK. :(
So you must find a ferry to/from Denmark or further south...
I'm so sorry! :tears
All ferries from Norway to Denmark are ok.
From the north end of Denmark it is only a few hours in daytime - no cabin needed.

And there is a ferry from Sweden Strømstad to Norway Sandefjord.

That are the best I can suggest - I'm sorry! :(

:) Liv.

At what time are you here (early / late summer?), how long do you have, and what are your interests? Gravel, scenery, adrenaline, historic sies, other touristy things,...?

Generally: From Stocholm, I wouldn't go as far north as Trondheim unless you have a special interest. Either go straight to Oslo (but not E18 all the way) and head North-West from there, or go North-West from Stockholm to cross the border e.g. by Trysil or the next one up. From here there are nice roads over the mountains to the West coast.
