Novogar boots

Anyone familiar with these boots ? They make a nice looking range of Motorcross and Trails boots. I like the look of the trials boots which are a bit shorter and less stiff than the MX boots. The manufacturer claims they are waterproof too ....

Yup - they look good and as they are 'professional" competition wear I would expect them to perform . The trials ones must be fully waterproof - after all those guys stand in water on a regular basis.....although they try damned hard not too
I'm definitely going to check them out. I think the price is pretty good too. They are cheaper than the Hein Gericke Toureg boots which IMHO look pretty naff compared to these.

Maybe we have the beginnings of new GSers cult footwear starting here

Can anyone out there translate the Italian technical specs for these boots from their website ? What do they use for their 'gortex' equivalent lining ? It doesn't say much on the English text.

I've found a dealer the other end of Belgium to where I live but I should be able to get down there next weekend so hold on to your money for now.
If they are crap I'll lie and say they'tre brilliant so that you'll buy some too and I won't feel like a total plonker for being the only one who bought them

Do you reckon it would be too much to ask if I can stand in a bucket of water when I try them on .....?

Hmmmm.....why not ? I won't be able to see if my foot is getting wet if I try them on in the dark.......


Dilemma just got worse because I stumbled across the "Gaerne Explorer' boots which look pretty good too.

Waterproof ?

Only if you keep them clean and do the Dubbin or Nikwax treatment regularly i.e. after every trial .
These are competition trials boots , excellent value and modelled on the Gearne & Alpinestars "No-stop" , which are better but a lot more expensive .
Gore-tex lining in a trials boot would be excessive and unlikely to last the flexing and hammer that trials riders dish out .
However , if you do use Nikwax you will be able to stand in a small river for ages whilst you try to save your bike from being washed away , following yet another failed attempt to clean the damn section !
I have no knowledge of the Enduro boot - but would think it unlikely to have a gore-tex lining .

Nikwax plus Gortex/waterproof socks should be a good combination then I guess. I'm going to check them out at the weekend . Thanks for the info.

OK, silly question time.

Why do the trials ones have a flat sole?

I presume it's something to do with the foot positioning riding trials, but I'd imagine the one with a defined arch would be better for 'normal' riding.

Flat soles

You're right Fanum , they are flat so that you can both alter your foot position more easily (normally you are on the balls of your feet) , and it is also supposed to aid grip when you are walking up sections .
Or in my case walking out of sections pushing the bike !
