Any dealer worth their salt would rectify it, given that it was sold so recently.
A salutary lesson to be remembered when buying a secondhand bike from a dealer on the very first occasion get it into top gear on a slight hill and wind it right up full throttle from about 3k right through to the redline several times if the clutch is goosed it will let go at about 6k . If its goosed take it right back straight away!

the clutch slips...open the throttle accelerating hard and revs go up then settle back down...feels viby till it stops slipping.
Happens all to often, bike gets traded in with a not too obvious fault. New owner and dealer get a nasty surprise. It's not nice.![]()

if I really don't get any joy with the dealer then I will get the clutch done cos I do love the bike and the amount of service history and money spent on this bike makes it worth it....it had only very recently new battery...tyres...full service and inspection by bmw...all filters and oils done...full diagnostic report...
I suspect that he spent a lot on this bike then faced with cost of a new clutch decided to cut his losses....one previous owner
if I do have to get it done how much would I expect to pay..main dealer and other options...
cheers for everybodys input....
Does the gearbox rattle in neutral but go quiet when the clutch love is pulled in?
The tappet style noise is caused by excessive clearance at the gearbox input shaft. Who knows why BMW could not use a car type clutch with toroidal shape release bearing. Their design is really not good leading to side loads at the gearbox input shaft.
