As I'm off the France next week I thought I better check my Nav V.

I seem to have
  • CN Europe NTU 2018.10
  • CN Europe NTU 2018.10 ALL North
  • Europe DEM
  • CN Europe NTU 2018.10 3D
Tried zooming in on places and all is good. Not sure why I seem to have two versions of 2018.10 although :nenau

I tried unticking the CN Europe NTU 2018.10 ALL North and it automatically unticks the CN Europe 2018.10 one too :nenau

You don't have France then. Apparently you need to have South installed.

I'm going to defecate into an envelope and post it to Garmin when I get home.

I've zoomed into Paris in the North and Nice in the South, both are there in detail.

He's made it all the way home.

Bonnie Tyler will you shut the fuck up !!!!!

Home now, and the Nav is plugged in to Garmin Express. I've reinstalled "full" coverage of Europe, and guess what, it still hasn't installed Southern Europe.:blast

There's no option in GE to install another map region. Any ideas?

I've E Mailed Garmin support centre to see whats going on

Not enough internal space ? Have you got an SD card plugged in ?

Here is copy of email I had when I had an issue :

It is possible to use Garmin Express to reinstall a map region or change the map coverage loaded to a Garmin GPS. This can be useful in the following situations:

A partial map region was installed to the device, but a different region is desired
Full coverage is desired, but a partial region of the map was installed previously
The map is no longer present because it was accidentally deleted or on an SD card that can no longer be used
To do this on Windows and Mac OS X:
Connect a compatible Garmin device to the computer.
Open Garmin Express.
Select the Garmin device on the home page.
Click Map Options
Click Reinstall Map or Change Map1
Click Reinstall Map to reinstall the same map region
Click Change Map to choose a different map region
Agree to the Terms and Conditions
Click Continue

When selecting the Change Map option, if the GPS has sufficient space, the largest map region available for the device will be downloaded and installed. If there is not sufficient space and the device has a microSD/SD card inserted with sufficient storage, Garmin Express will automatically detect the card and ask for confirmation to use it for the map update.2 Click Continue to use the card, and the installation will proceed automatically.

If there is not sufficient space on the GPS and no microSD/SD card inserted:
The program will acknowledge that there is not enough space on the device's internal memory for the map update.
Options will be provided based on the device being updated:
Use a Memory Card2 - Choose this option to install the largest available region to a compatible microSD/SD card. Insert a card with sufficient available space for the update into the GPS. Once the card is detected, click Continue to begin the map update.
Choose a Region - Choose this option to install a smaller map region to the device. Choose the appropriate available region from the drop down list then click Continue to install it.
Garmin Express will display the progress as it installs the map to the device. After the process is completed, the desired map will be installed.

1The reinstall or change map option is only available if the maps on the device are up to date. If there is a new update available, coverage will be determined automatically.
2Not all Garmin GPS devices support installation of map updates directly to a memory card. For more information, see Related Content.

If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know. Alternatively you can search for a solution here: https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/

There is a thread on this issue, a clean install of express on another computer and formatted sd card after saving favourites worked,,

That's my next option. Wipe the SD card, and reinstall Garmin express.

It really shouldn't be this much hassle.

Courtesy of my Zumo 660 (with the exception of Belgium where the Nav 6 worked...then went AWOL as soon as we went back into France!!!!)

Belgium? Nutty told me it was Greece or maybe Finland or perhaps Portugal. He couldn't tell as his trusted Garmin guide had gone AWOL.

SD card wiped. Nav 6 wiped and returned to factory settings. Garmin Express removed, then reinstalled. Maps updated. Still no Southern Europe.

Yep, Belgium....& as per Martins note below, Greece & Portugal are in the Southern grouping so no chance of those appearing!!

Finland possibly but he didn't have maps for Greece or Portugal !!

Any anti virus software on your computer? Could try disabling.

Interestingly I use Mac and have a security/firewall installed on it and when i did the latest map update it kept sticking with a 3rd remaining untill i turned off the firewall for garmin products then all was well

I had the same issue with a windows PC running windows defender too

Does basecamp have the full mapping installed (north and south) if so can you not use a usb card reader, put the card in the reader and send both the north and south split up as you want to the card using base camp. and then put the card back in to your nav. just an idea. that would at least take the nav out of the equation for the transfer of files.

Try it on another computer, i have a mac, it updated other garmins no issues,
Wouldnt load the nav 5 like your problem, borrowed a windows laptop fresh install of express and formatted sd all ok now,
It seems like a firmware issue on the nav 5 and 6,
Roamer,
