Oil+filter change

Back to basics i know and i have always serviced all my bikes without dificulty untill i made the mistake of reading up on oil/filter change on a airhead lol(r80GS)1992.
Have never read so much conflicting info in my life lol.Think i have pretty much sussed the correct way to put the oil filter in so could you guys just tell me a brand and grade of oil you guys use.

Halfords classic or B & Q do a 20/50 ( and within grade to - Thunder road to Africa with B & Q oil in )

Yep - I use the Halfords stuff, old fashioned green tin:

It'll do just fine BUT I prefer CASTROL 20/50 MINERAL to drink

Another good option is Comma " classic " 20/50. Cheaper than halfords too but only available at motor factors.

He is into Honda Africa Twins at the moment and hanging around their forums........he'll see sense and return although he isn't doing The Wee-Kend this year as he is up in bonnie Scottyland at that time.

i am going to my oil and filter on my gs soon and had 10w40 in last year would it be ok or would it be best to fine some 20w50 oil.

Cheers guys...thought i would be carefull on the oil front and just ask for a brand and grade.
Asking for advice on oil or tyres on a bike forum is like talking religion or politics while pissed in a pub..........All out war lol
