Just had a recall for Brazilian oil filers coming loose at 12,500 rpm. Now living in Norfolk I've probably got to find a BMW dealer so that's 100 mile plus trip, thanks Lind.

As far as I read, its not a recall. Its dealers not to fit Brazilian made filters to S1000 series. All other models unaffected.

Says recall on my letter?

AHH right. They've rolled it out properly now then.

When I was at a MD last year the notification came in to stop fitting them.

If you are riding all the way to Lind on an S1000 at 12,500rpm you deserve to fall off, if a rod doesn’t let go first.

My recall notice arrived last week while I was away. I checked today and sure enough my s1000xr has the Brazil (bad) oil filter rather than Austria (good). Called the dealer who advised they don’t have them, on back order and earliest will be mid march. The reality is that with a 12,500 rpm fail point it probably is not an urgent issue but even so. I do wonder though how they establish that it comes loose at a relatively precise level.
