Cut the bulb bit off with brute ignorance and a drill and hacksaw, then grab the remaining rim with a decent set of mole grips, bend it inwards (i.e. make a "hart shape" out of it) and it'll come off. You may have to hammer and screwdriver it a bit to get it to bend.

Classic Bodgeit and Force engineering job - ensure you have a mug of tea and a roll-up!

is the can of the filter spinning & the base staying still, or is it the more common problem of the filter tool spinning on the can?

if it's the latter, wedge some sandpaper between the tool & the filter. if it's the former, big twin's probably covered it.

Change your bike shop.

As cookie advises. Wet and dry wrapped around inside the oil filter tool, then hit it onto the filter. Job done. No mess.

That's what i had to do once, when inadvertantly i didn't check the old filter base and the old O ring had been left in-situ when i got the old filter off......New oil, fire her up....pissy oil all over. :augie

Never again, check every time now. ;)
