Has anybody had an oil filter stuck on a 1200gs. Put new filter on with torque wrench at 9nm and it appears to have stripped the thread. Won't fully tighten or come off. I have cut away the body of the filter and I am left with the top to remove, the outer part with the circle of holes spins but the thread is not coming down. Any ideas???

Sounds like a poor quality filter, the thing has come apart internally. If you have cut it open can you get a purchase on the centre, this will be the threaded part.

John, The filter was a BMW part from Nippy Norman.
I suppose the thread has stripped from the filter because turning the whole top part dosen't move it down the main thread.

The thread wasn't stripped it had gone past the top of the thread on the engine pipe. Had to drill a circle of holes on the top part of the filter, after having cut away the body of the filter, and then cut the threaded part away.
Warning to others- DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE FILTER

I dont have a 1200 filter to hand but If I recall correctly

the instructions are better in french than in English!!!

Tighten by hand then a further 3/4 turn

Obviously if your veins are sticking out with the effort of tightening it then you are doing it wrong
