i have a gs1100. started it up and oil light is staying on. checked oil level and seemed fine. put a drop in just incase and level up to glass window.

light still refuses to go out. no visible oil leaks or anything, and it all sounds normal on tick over.

any one out there with suggestions please.

the dilemma is whether to drive it to local dealer or not...

Oil Light

My 1150gs has done this in the past after washing it i would take the wire of your oil pressure switch dry and clean it if this does not cure it i would go for a new oil pressure switch.
Night Trunker.

Had a similar problem a few years ago on an airhead GS, new oil pressure switch cured it.

It's extremely unlikely to be anything more serious than the pressure switch (note: PRESSURE switch, not level switch!) but, until you know for certain you probably should not start the engine. Why not buy and fit a new switch before you do anything further?

Edit: BTW, It's an R1100GS you have, not a GS1100; that was a geriatric Suzuki!
