Whilst performing the annual oil change for this season I noticed that my sight glass has fallen out.
Is it possible that this may of damaged the engine?
Do I need any special tools to put a replacement back in?

Cheers

No, you don't.

Try a search on 'oil sight glass' and you'll find several threads with pics :) :beerjug:

I would assume if the sight glass has fallen & you've ridden out like that out then you've lost a quantity of oil which may cause damage depending on how much has been lost and how long you've ridden it?

Be careful fitting the replacement - they are now made of glass and shatter very easily (WHAT WERE THEY THINKING OF?). You need to tap it in carefully, ideally using the old seal to sit on the rubber ring but you say you don't have this - try a socket of the same diameter. I found insertion to be eased by the application of some rubbing alcohol.

Remember, they do really shatter very easily.
